To Fortnite: Battle Royale patch 9.01 is here. The first major content update for Season 9 brings, among other things, a new weapon: the tactical assault rifle.
This is included in the new update 9.01: Just under a week after the start of Season 9, the first content update for Fortnite is here. In version 9.01, you can expect a new weapon, a removed weapon, and a big nerf for a controversial weapon.
The features of patch 9.01 in PvP
New weapon – Tactical assault rifle: This weapon is a hybrid between an assault rifle and a submachine gun. It has its greatest impact at close range due to its low spread and is particularly good for taking down buildings.
- Availability: rare, epic, legendary
- Damage: 22 / 23 / 24 – Headshot multiplier: 1.75
- Ammunition: Medium
- Magazine: 30
Weapon change – Submachine gun: Since there are already enough good weapons available at close range with the drum gun and the new tactical assault rifle, the submachine gun has been removed from the game.
Feature change – Wind tunnels: The developers have changed a few details regarding the new wind tunnels in Season 9:
- You can now build in wind tunnels
- If you collide with buildings in the wind tunnel, they will be destroyed
- After storm phase 5, the wind tunnels will be deactivated. Too many players were blown into the storm by them, and they are hardly useful in tight spaces anyway.
Gameplay changes and bug fixes: Here are some of the changes:
- The Baller now has 150 instead of 200 health points
- The drum gun was nerfed from 26/27 to 22/23 damage and thus significantly nerfed
- Performance has been improved
- Physics have been optimized
Whether the death zone at Tilted Towers has been fixed is not clear from the patch notes.
This is changing in Creative mode: You can now rebuild the ruined Tilted Towers after the volcanic eruption.

New war games – Fog capsules: Here you need to destroy the fog capsules before they spawn minibosses.
New hero – Prehistoric Izza: A new constructor who is particularly tough and tanky thanks to the “Dinosaur Skin” perk. Available in the shop from May 16, 2019, at 2:00 AM.
