Today, on December 19th, the servers for update 28.01.01 went down. The download is now available to everyone after the maintenance and is around 1.673 GB. According to Epic Games, the next update is planned for 2024.

All changes for Fortnite Battle Royale
What many players of Fortnite will probably be pleased about is the revised movement speed in Battle Royale. Additionally, Epic Games has adjusted several areas of the map at night, the damage of several weapons, and the visibility of the storm edge.

Patch notes for Fortnite Battle Royale:
Movement:
- Movement speed while crouching and running has been increased
- Camera movement has been reduced, visibility change while sprinting has been adjusted
- Movement animations have been updated to better match the movement adjustments.
- Settings for diagonal movements have been reset
- If you made adjustments there, you will need to adapt them to the new movement again
Visibility of Medallions:
- High Society medallion symbols stand out more on the map now and are easier to see
- Visibility of the mini-map has been improved where several medallion zones are located next to each other – especially in later storm phases
Visibility at night:
- Certain areas on the map that were a bit too dark at night have been brightened up
Visibility of the storm:
- Visibility of the storm edge has been improved to make its proximity easier to recognize
Weapon symbols:
- Weapon symbols of the automatic rage shotgun and the thunder salvo machine pistol have been adjusted, now visually differ more and are better legible
Balance adjustments in the past week:
- Flowberries now grant more shields
- Weapon damage increased from: Striker Assault Rifle, Ranger Pistol, Shield Breaker EMP Grenade, Ballistic Shield’s Pistol
- Magazine size of the Snowball Launcher has been decreased
- Magazine size of the thunder salvo machine pistol has been increased
- Loot probability of the harvester sniper rifle has been decreased
- The circle marking the owner of a high society medallion is now smaller
- Shield regeneration of high society medallions now occurs slightly delayed, the regeneration values of the medallions have also been slightly reduced and no longer restore 100% of the shields (unless you have all five)
All changes for LEGO Fortnite
Last week, Epic Games made some changes for LEGO Fortnite. Among other things, the durability of weapons and tools was increased, the damage from the poison area of monsters was reduced, the charges of the grappler were increased to 30, and spider occurrences under stones were reduced.
With update 28.01.01, the following changes were made today:
- Snacks have been adjusted regarding their satiation
- A bug that caused players to possibly lose their items after being eliminated during the transition between above-ground and underground worlds was fixed
All changes for Rocket Racing
- Racers with a high rank had to endure long waiting times when searching for players – this will be monitored and adjusted if necessary
- Collisions have been adjusted and are no longer as severe
- Players with the rank Gold I now only need to finish a whole race to complete the mission and receive the outfit ‘Jackie’
All changes for Fortnite Festival
- Players were shown an empty song library on the main stage after minimizing Fortnite or interrupting it in a similar way. The bug has been fixed.
- Some players experienced pauses before the start of songs, this should be resolved now
- Fall damage in the backstage area of the main stage has been disabled
- The ‘Restart song’ function has been temporarily disabled while a bug is being fixed that caused the game to become unresponsive
- Errors in the leaderboard have been fixed, this will continue to be monitored to ensure their accuracy
