Fortnite: Battle Royale has changed the map again with Season 10. Read here what has happened at the start of Season X and why even more is likely to come soon.
What has changed? Season X brought some drastic changes to the map right from the start. The old Dusty Depot is back, the comet hovers frozen over the map, the skeleton of the monster is lying around, and Loot Lake has become a strange, interdimensional zone.
All map changes from Season X at a glance
In the following paragraphs, you will learn what new features have been added to the map in Season X. However, these changes are likely not the end, as the developers have already announced Rift Zones that hinted at further map changes almost overnight. There will likely be many new features in Season 10.
Dusty Depot
Here’s what to expect at Dusty Depot: Anyone who has played Fortnite since the beginning surely remembers this place. Before the comet struck at the end of Season 3, there was a warehouse complex called Dusty Depot at the site of Dusty Divot.
There you can find a lot of loot, but the large warehouses also provide enough cover for wild close-range battles.
The Comet
What is the comet? The comet got closer steadily during Season 3 and struck the map at the start of Season 4, where Dusty Divot was created among other things. The comet itself struck in a cutscene, but was never seen in gameplay. However, now the thing hovers just a few meters above Dusty Divot.
You can land on the comet and collect loot on it. The environment around the comet acts like a Hop Rock, meaning you can jump higher and further, and also jump down from the comet safely.
Interesting detail: You can enter the comet via two cave entrances on the sides. Inside, you will find the famous Visitor’s capsule, but it is empty!
The Factory
What’s up with the factory? The factory was once in the early days of Fortnite in the game, had no name and is only known to absolute Fortnite veterans.
Now it is back and promises rich loot and a cool location for wild battles. You can find the building at G6 on the map.
Skeleton of Cattus
This is what the legendary location looks like now: The latest addition to the map from Season 9 was the skeleton of Cattus, in which the Singularities sword was still stuck. This location is still there, and the sword rises as a majestic monument of victory far above the map.
In Season 10, nature has reclaimed the area a bit further, and picturesque purple trees and flowers are growing everywhere. The skeleton is located at E6 on the map.
Loot Lake
This is how the lake has changed with the orb: The orb at Loot Lake is still there, but it seems to have detonated and is trapped in a strange intermediate state. Everything around the bursting orb is frozen, and various objects are floating in the air.
Within the zone around the orb, you float slowly, and your vision is obscured at distance. This promises wild fights where you float around in close quarters and shoot each other in flight.
Mechs
Where can you find the mechs? The new mechs, called B.I.E.S.T., will be dropped onto the map at the same time as the players. You will then recognize where the mechs are located on the map once they land.
If you are quick and manage to stay near a mech with a bit of luck, you can grab one of these colossal battle machines and gain a significant advantage at the start.
What is missing?
The following things are gone:
- Wind Tunnels: The controversial fast-travel tunnels from Season 9 are mostly gone. You can only find them locally at Neo Tilted and Mega Mall.
- Sky Platforms: The floating structures in the sky have also disappeared
In addition, fast vehicles like the car and the quad-crasher are missing. Only the driftboard and the mechs remain. You are significantly slower than in Season 9. Especially in tournaments, this reduced mobility should bring interesting changes.
