In Fortnite you can now enter the mother ship that hovers over the island. And it is worth it: Besides an amazing location and a fun mini-game, there is a chance for really good loot.
What’s new: The Update 17.10 has been deployed in Fortnite, which brought several changes. One of them concerns the huge UFO, that is the mother ship, which has been located over the map since the beginning of the alien invasion.
You can now reach the mother ship during your matches. However, this is not easy.
Here’s how to get into the mother ship: To enter the giant UFO, the mother ship, you first need to find one of three alien platforms. This is quite simple, as these special platforms are also very prominent UFOs and are always displayed on the map. For example, one of the platforms may be hovering above the changed Believers Beach. You just need to get there and survive.
After a while, the alien platform will start sucking up multiple players via a tractor beam and transporting them to the mother ship. There is no clear pattern yet regarding which players and how quickly they are sucked up. Therefore, it is important to survive nearby the platform for a while and not get taken out by other players prematurely.
Once the tractor beam has caught you, the journey upwards begins. And once you have arrived in the mother ship, an exciting location awaits you.
Mini-game in the mother ship promises great loot – If you are good
What happens in the mother ship: In the large UFO, your current equipment does not matter, instead, you are given a laser gun. This does no damage but can throw opponents around. Additionally, you gain the ability to perform a double jump.
Equipped with these elements, you land in a fight with other players, which takes place on floating island fragments. Particularly cool: These island fragments partly correspond to places from the old maps of Fortnite, which are no longer accessible.
For instance, you will find the giant pirate ship or a tower from Lucky Landing there. Here, you will fight with players for golden vault orbs that fall from above. Although you cannot deal damage, you can throw each other off the platforms – if that happens, you respawn and can rejoin.
The event runs until a timer runs out. You can extend it by collecting time orbs during the fight. However, when the clock hits 0, the mini-game ends for you.
Now you land in a room full of chests. Depending on how many vault orbs you have collected, you will receive better loot from these chests. In the best case, you will get strong, legendary weapons, with which you will be well-equipped for the rest of the match.
After the fight in the mother ship, you will return to the island, where you continue normally with the battle royale.
If you are not in the mood for alien shenanigans and would rather focus on the epic victory, you might want to aim for other places at the start of the match where there are no alien platforms.
