It’s almost time! Just a few days left until Season 5 finally starts in Fortnite. However, so far, there has been little information revealed by Epic. It is expected that the developers have even more new features up their sleeves this time than in Season 3 and 4. Anything less would be unsatisfactory for many fans.

The start date of Season 5
When does Season 5 start? The only concrete information about Season 5 so far is the start date. According to Epic, it is set to begin on July 12, 2018. At 04:00 AM Eastern Time.
That would be 10:00 AM for us here in Germany. Epic will probably carry out a larger update and maintenance work beforehand. Let’s hope everything goes smoothly and we can play on Thursday around noon.
Attention: When Season 5 starts, it will no longer be possible to earn items or skins from the Battle Pass of Season 4. So hurry up if you have anything left!
Rifts and Map Changes
Is the old map getting destroyed? Since the rocket launch on July 30, rifts have been spreading across the sky. Additionally, smaller rifts are appearing on the ground, destroying landmarks on the map. A widely held theory suggests that the days of the map are numbered. There could therefore be a completely new map for Season 5. Fans are hoping for this, as it would be somewhat overdue after 4 seasons with the same map. A desert map is the favorite – also in “Save the World”, a new biome of this kind is expected to come with the start of Season 5. Will historical places come? Other players do not believe that Epic will completely destroy the map. Rather, they suspect that the rifts will suck up places from space and time and replace them with other places from different timelines. This theory is also supported by a quote from the time travel cult comedy “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure”, which Epic boss Donald Mustard recently tweeted:
What about Moisty Mire? At the end of Season 3, leaks appeared that accurately predicted what ultimately happened in Season 4. The information came from an insider who is now being legally pursued. However, one statement did not come true: the destruction of Moisty Mire. Perhaps the swamp will give way to something new.
What will be the theme of Season 5?
Time travel, Egyptians, and the Wild West? Prompted by the time travel references from the rifts and the Bill&Ted tweet, many players speculate time travel as the next season theme. After all, skins in the style of detectives and mobsters from the 1930s, complete with Tommy Gun, have already appeared! And recently, the Red Knight skin was even back in the shop.
Historical figures in the pass? Our user Ayrony mentioned in a comment here at Mein-MMO that possibly historical figures would come as new outfits and skins. This would also fit perfectly with Bill & Ted, as the two chaotic characters pick up figures like Genghis Khan, Socrates, or Napoleon on their time travels. It is very likely that we will soon experience battle royales between historical figures as well.
How much will the Battle Pass cost?
Will the prices remain the same? The Battle Pass is a huge success for Epic, especially due to its relatively low price of around 9.50 euros. Even school children can easily chip this amount from their pocket money. Therefore, there are millions of people who will buy the pass for this price, but may be taken aback if they suddenly have to pay more.
Epic can afford it: Therefore, it is very likely that Epic will not change the price. The studio makes millions every week and can afford to be generous. Even if Season 5 becomes significantly larger than the previous seasons, Epic can safely stick to the old prices. We will only know more when Season 5 finally starts on July 12, 2018.
