The new “War Bus” in Fortnite is quite a strong counter against other cars, as it has a unique weapon.
How important are cars in Fortnite? Currently, they are more important than ever, as with the start of the new season in Fortnite, cars have received a major upgrade.
Improvements like Nitro, service stations, powerful bumpers, special tires, but above all the grenade launchers and turrets on the roofs make cars some of the most effective weapons in the whole game. When faced without a vehicle of your own, they are hard to handle. And when you almost finish them off, they just speed away.
However, one vehicle on the island is perfect for putting an end to the speeding: the War Bus. It has a unique weapon on board that you can easily overlook.
How to obtain the War Bus and use EMP in Fortnite
How do you find the War Bus? The War Bus can be obtained by taking down one of the patrols that drive around the island. They usually consist of a War Bus and another vehicle, always occupied by NPCs. However, it is also possible that one of the new, strong bosses is riding along in the patrol.
What is the secret weapon? The War Bus in Fortnite has an EMP weapon on board, but not as a turret – that’s why it can be easily overlooked. The EMP burst is activated instead when you honk the bus’s horn. To do this, you must press the down arrow on the controller.
When you honk the horn, the bus emits an EMP burst in a dome shape around it. This destroys the shields of enemies and especially disables the engines of cars. This means: Your enemies can no longer just speed away. But be careful: The EMP always has a short cooldown once you have used it.
Tip: This will also help you quickly get rid of opponents who have hopped onto your bus and, for example, taken position at the turrets. They cannot withstand the damage for long.
Important: As of now, the grenade launchers or turrets of cars do not get deactivated. So they cannot escape anymore, but your opponents can still shoot at you.
Are there more ways to defend against cars? Indeed, but it is currently still not that easy. Many players are just having to get used to the new season to find effective ways against the powerful vehicles. Some options are:
- Other cars to engage offensively and ram the competition.
- The Nitro gloves can launch cars into the air with an uppercut.
- The impulse grenade can knock cars off course.
- And simply hopping on can also cause confusion. But that only works if there is still space in the car.
