Fortnite is promoting a special event for this Saturday evening, June 30. It probably concerns the launch of the rocket. But when is that exactly? What does 10:30 AM PT, 1:30 PM ET, and 7:30 PM CET mean?
Something is happening in Fortnite today: The in-game message from Fortnite: Battle Royale clearly states that something is happening this evening. You should get into a match and look up at the sky. “It only happens once,” warns the developers’ message.
Confusion about Daylight Saving Time / Standard Time
When is that exactly? The time is given as 10:30 AM PT, 1:30 PM ET, 7:30 PM CET. This is the respective standard time in the regions:
- West Coast of the USA (PT),
- East Coast of the USA (ET)
- and Central Europe, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland (CET).
The event in question will therefore take place at 7:30 PM our time. Actually, we are currently in Daylight Saving Time. This means that the event would shift to 8:30 PM if Epic were to take the time statement very seriously.
Stated standard time is probably an error: However, much indicates that Epic simply made a mistake here or did not take the time statement very seriously.
- On one hand, it would be unreasonable to ask players to convert the time
- On the other hand, the countdowns in Fortnite, for example on televisions, indicate that it really starts at 7:30 PM our time. For Epic, standard time therefore applies everywhere.

Look to the sky
What exactly is happening? Officially, we do not know that yet. But it is expected that the rocket launches from Shobby Shores. This seems to be the climax of a storyline that has been unfolding behind the scenes in Fortnite for months. Ultimately, it concerns the meteorite at the end of Season 3. An alien emerged from it, the Visitor, and now he has something planned with this rocket. It could initiate the transition to Season 5 – which is supposed to start in less than two weeks.
What effects will it have in the game? We do not know that yet. It could be that unexpectedly new modes go online, where you have to take down a giant monster, the Leviathan, similar to Thanos. It is certain that Moisty Mire is set to disappear by the end of Season 4. Maybe this will happen this evening. But these are currently just speculations.
What should you do this evening? If Epic has its way, all players should try to be in a Fortnite match at 7:30 PM our time and look up at the sky.
Can Fortnite’s servers handle it?
Will it work – What about queues and server problems? Many expect that there could be serious login problems when millions of players log in at the same time. Some joke that it is a massive stress test of the servers disguised as an event. Perhaps that is why Epic is no longer trying to bring the “Playground” mode live. In any case, it is advisable to log into Fortnite early. From 7 PM, there may be long queues for Fortnite on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and Mobile.
Mein-MMO is there: We at Mein-MMO.de will certainly be on-site and report as quickly as possible about the outcome of the event.
What happened? Light from space targeted Tilted Towers
This is what happened: At exactly 7:30 PM, the rocket launched from the western part of the map at Snobby Shores. This was announced by an increasingly loud siren that could be heard even in the furthest corners of the map. The rocket ascended into the sky gradually.
After the rocket vanished into space, a light descended onto the world of Fortnite. The light seemed to target Tilted Towers. But the impact apparently did not occur.
In any case, the event left a lasting impression on Fortnite. The now purple-lit sky is adorned by a rift. Some speculate: The world of Fortnite might have been under a dome, which now has a rift. Others speak of a dimensional rift.
Were there map changes in Fortnite after the event? A rocket part crashed in Anarchy Acres. That is likely the booster part of the rocket, which was deliberately detached as the rocket ascended into the sky. The rocket part can be dismantled with a pickaxe.
Here you can see videos of the rocket launch event “Launch” in Fortnite
The video shows the launch of the rocket from Snobby Shores particularly well:
This video showcases the events with the light better – from Pleasant Park:
Here in video 3 by Ninja, you can see that the booster part of the rocket is detached. That is the part that presumably landed in Anarchy Acres.
We will report back at Mein MMO as soon as we know more.
