Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Switch & Xbox One) will soon get a new weapon: the Tommy Gun! This new retro weapon is fueling theories about dimensional rifts and time travel.
What is the Tommy Gun in Fortnite?: Some time ago, the Tommy Gun was found by dataminers in the game code. Although it is called the “Drum Gun”, it looks just like the legendary Thompson submachine gun. This piece dates back to the 1930s and saw extensive use in World War II and in the hands of mobsters during Prohibition.
In Fortnite, the Drum Gun will reportedly be an assault rifle according to the page StormShieldOne. It is weaker than the regular rifle but shoots much faster and has a 50-round magazine.
And then there’s the time travel theory, which is really gaining momentum with the new weapon.
Do the dimensional rifts allow for time travel?
New map with time travel? Currently, Fortnite players are very excited. The mysterious rocket created a sort of rift in the sky on June 30, 2018. Many fans see this as a rift in space and time. Therefore, time travel could now be a topic for Fortnite and the upcoming 5th season.
New weapon and skins as a sign of time travel? The Tommy Gun is not a modern weapon. Rather, it represents retro shooting. Additionally, there are new skins “Detective”, “Sleuth” and “Noir”, all of which have a 1930s style. Some fans are already seeing early hints of the time travel theme.
Romans and Egyptians? Some fans even see more potential for time travel. According to various theories and alleged leaks, some players believe that the theme of Season 5 also includes Romans and ancient Egyptians. Possibly, locations on the map will soon be sucked into the rifts and replaced by historical counterparts.
We will find out more latest by July 12, 2018. That is when Season 5 is finally set to start. However, the theme should already be teased further before then.
