In Fortnite: Battle Royale is the final teaser for Season 8 finally here. It contrary to previous trends shows a cute banana.
What is shown in the last teaser? One day before the release of the new Season 8 in Fortnite, a final teaser image has emerged. As expected, it combines with the other three images to create a stylized skull of flames erupting from a volcano.
If you look closely, you can also spot another character. This time it is not a fearsome snake or a tiger beast. Instead, a cute banana is revealed.
What is the significance of the banana? Those who paid attention during the last AMA from Epic on Reddit know that a banana was actually mentioned there. When asked what one single word would sum up Season 8, Epic only named “bananas”.
The fruit therefore seems to be another skin from the Battle Pass, a usable new item, or an NPC from a possibly upcoming PvE feature in Season 8.
Some fans have already speculated about PvE opponents and bosses due to the tiger and the snake, a rumor that has been circulating around Fortnite for some time.
Season 8 remains mysterious
What exactly the banana does is still unclear, as are the exact themes and new features of Season 8. However, some information can be gleaned from the text of the 4th teaser:
“Explore the world, Challenge your fate, Dig up the secrets, Adventure awaits you, Season 8 starts tomorrow!”
Especially the part about digging suggests new features, possibly special treasures that you can only find by digging in the right spot. Or the line refers to the expected underground areas, which are also supposed to come in Season 8.
Treasures would also fit the pirate theme that the hook hand in the first teaser image hints at.
This is how the community reacts: The players of Fortnite are mostly happy with the banana. They are looking forward to a skin that allows them to run around and shoot as a banana being. However, some are also confused about what the basic theme of the new season is supposed to be.
The theme could currently be a wild mix of fire, pirates, and jungle, mixing up the Fortnite map considerably. It is currently being plagued by cracks and earthquakes. Perhaps everything will fall apart tomorrow with the start of Season 8.
