The big Doomsday live event at the end of Season 2 has now taken place in Fortnite: Battle Royale and prepares players for Season 3, which starts on Wednesday, June 17. After the event, the map changed and the way the storm works. We show a video.
What kind of event was that? The live event named “The Device” started at 8:05 PM on Monday, June 15. A countdown had counted down to this time at The Agency and in the Fortnite lobby.
The event was apparently so popular that even Fortnite’s creative director, Donald Mustard, couldn’t join the game. Mustard said: “That was the biggest event ever.” Many trying to log in were stuck in queues.
The event is meant to prepare players for the start of Season 3, which will begin on June 17.

What happened in the live event at the end of Season 2? Just in time for the start, alarm sounds could be heard and Midas was talking with his henchmen.
Then, the 5 capsules opened one by one, located underwater around the Agency. When all the capsules were opened, a huge device emerged from the Agency before a massive storm brewed.
The device shot beams of light and “scared off” the storm while players were lifted into the air. Suddenly, one found themselves in another dimension where Fortnite briefly became “first-person”. There, people could be heard talking about the storm.
As it turned out, this was the well-known character Jonesy.
In the end, players returned to the Fortnite map, which was partly flooded. One could see huge walls of water that behaved like the storm when trying to enter them.
If you look closely, you can see sharks swimming in the water. These might play a bigger role in Season 3 since sharks were seen in the first teaser posters that are said to appear in Season 3.

For this round, the water walls meant that the map was greatly reduced and one could only play around the Agency.

This is how the game changed after the event: The storm is now different from before. In the storm, you can no longer walk normally but swim in the storm.
In addition, the location “The Agency” has changed significantly.
