Fortnite brings weapons in and out of the game with new seasons. Some are unique, while others just waste item slots in your inventory. We at MeinMMO will show you which are the best weapons in the current Season 7.
Where do the weapon details come from? The information about the weapon stats is derived from a list by DotEsports (via. Dotesports.com) and details from Fortnite Wiki (via. Fortnite Wiki). In this top list, I will compile everything from these and additionally include my own experiences to show you which weapons are truly worth a closer look.
These are the best weapons in Chapter 2 Season 7
When it comes to weapons in Fortnite, good handling and high damage are usually key. Since every second in a battle could mean defeat, the special function of each weapon is also not overlooked. Currently, the following weapons stand out:
- Kymera Ray
- Railgun
- Plasma Cannon
- Pump Shotgun
- Scar Assault Rifle
Kymera Ray
What makes the weapon strong? Especially at the beginning of matches, ammunition shortage can be a real problem. This is why it’s better to carry a weapon that has unlimited ammunition. This alien blaster fires a laser that inflicts 9 damage per second on your enemy.
Important info about the weapon:
- Unlimited ammunition
- Damage: 9 – 11 damage per second (varies depending on weapon rarity)
- Overheats with continuous fire
- Cooldown: 2.5 – 2 seconds (depending on rarity)
Where can you find it? With intruders or after an abduction
Railgun
What makes the weapon strong? This new sniper charges a laser beam that breaks through any obstacle. Whether it’s buildings from other players or UFOs – this rifle destroys everything in its path.
Important info about the weapon:
- One bullet in the chamber
- Requires sniper ammunition
- Damage: 85 – 94 – Double damage on headshot (depending on rarity)
- Deals 2.5x more damage to UFOs
- Reload speed: 3 – 2.7 seconds depending on rarity
Where can you find it: Everywhere, in chests, after a UFO round, IO facilities
Plasma Cannon
What makes the weapon special? Don’t be fooled. This small handgun fires a large plasma ball that destroys everything in its path. From buildings to natural vegetation, nothing is safe from it.
Important info about the weapon:
- Damage: 33 per second
- Weapon has no cooldown
- Has limited ammunition
Where can you find it: Everywhere, in chests, after an abduction
Pump Shotgun
What makes the weapon special? This weapon, a classic in Fortnite, is a must-have for any player. It deals massive damage with a precise shot, even at relatively long ranges.
Important info about the weapon:
- Damage: ranges from 84 – 116 (depending on rarity)
- Reload speed: takes 5.1 – 3.7 seconds (depending on rarity)
- Magazine size: 5 bullets

Scar Assault Rifle
What makes the weapon special? This weapon, along with the pump, is one of the oldest weapons in Fortnite. The rifle not only scores with its damage, but is universally effective at all ranges.

- Damage: 30 – 36 (depending on rarity)
- Reload time: 2.53 – 2.07 seconds (depending on rarity)
- Magazine size: 30 in the magazine

Fortnite may have many more good weapons, but these 5 are likely the current best firearms you can use in the ongoing season. You might consider enhancing your loadout with some grenades or firefly grenades. This way, you can quickly tear down a building or set it on fire to plunge your enemies into ruin.
Keep in mind: This list is a compilation of weapons that are labeled as the “currently best” by me and many others – but that doesn’t necessarily mean it applies to you. As always, it ultimately comes down to personal taste, individual preferences, and simply whether you can handle the weapon in question. Just because many find it good or the stats are great, doesn’t mean you’ll perform well with it.
