These landing spots should be visited at the start of the game
Where are the landing points? Here on the Season 2 map, you can already see our top landing spots. What exactly is so good about them and what you should consider there will be revealed in the following paragraphs.
Tilted Towers
Where is the location? This legendary POI (Point of Interest) is located south of the largest lake on the new map. You recognize the location by the large apartment blocks that tower over the streets. Additionally, there is a clock tower in the small town.
What is so good about it? Tilted Towers is wild. You can expect not only many kills but also a lot of loot. Every block contains a variety of items, consumables, and chests. If looting every building drives you to the brink of madness, you can destroy every building with a tank.
As a result, the apartment blocks collapse, and the loot ends up in the foundation. You can then easily walk over all the items and determine your loadout. Additionally, you have many cars and several escape routes available if you are being hunted.
If you want to embark on a longer journey, you can visit a gas station nearby. Fill up your vehicle and get ready for a long round.
You also have the option to visit the airship hovering over Tilted. There, you’ll find plenty of crates and cannons that you can use as catapults. This way, you can launch yourself into the air and cover long distances.
What should you still consider? Despite the massive loot, you should note that Tilted Towers is one of the most popular landing zones in Fortnite. Most players land there and thus compete for the right to loot the location first. Therefore, you should proceed carefully and thoughtfully since some sweaty players might land there too.
You’ll also have problems with the IO squad’s occupiers. They have taken over Tilted and defend the location with great firepower like tanks and strong weapons.
Shifty Shafts
Where is the location? The location is situated north of the largest lake in Fortnite. The mining facility borders the snowy area on the map.
What is so good about it? In Shifty Shafts, you are not only surrounded by mines but also buried treasures. You can find many chests in the tunnels and gear up because of that. The mines protect you from enemy fire and can be used well for camping.
Additionally, the location is relatively central and allows you to reach other locations quickly. The river, which borders the mines to the west, can be used as an escape route. This way, you can face the sweaty city “Tilted Towers” with good equipment.
In a team, losses in Shifty are not dramatic, as a restart bus awaits you at the entrance. On top of that, there is a vending machine nearby where you can spend your gold bars to buy various goodies.
What should you still consider? Not only you but also other players could be hiding in the mine shafts and lying in wait for you. Therefore, you must be on your guard and secure yourself with a melee weapon.
The location does not exactly have the best escape options. If you use the streets on foot, a group of players driving cars could run you over and loot you.
Large Gas Station next to Sanctuary
Where is the location? The location is situated west of Sanctuary and resembles a large rest stop with a diner. You can recognize it by many gas pumps, a workshop, and a large sign reading GAS.
What is so good about it? Perhaps not as many chests, but optimized for mobility, you can upgrade your vehicle with the workshop, cars, and gas pumps. With it, you can then travel to various POIs, eliminating every player or looting locations.
As Season 2 removed the Spider-Man web shooters from the game, the cars are once again among the best means of transport. You can choose between different vehicle classes and embark on your journey down the connected road.
What should you still consider? You should be aware of the few chests. In solo, this location is suitable as there are enough chests for an optimal loadout. In teams or other modes with more players, the loot might not be sufficient.
If enemies attack you, be careful not to stand too close to the gas pumps. The explosion could severely hurt you and set everything in the vicinity on fire.
Airships
Where is the location? You can find the airships or zeppelins at almost every larger POI taken over by IO. They hover over the locations and are interconnected by ziplines. This way, players can ascend. The following locations include an airship:
- Condo Canyon
- Rocky Reels
- Tilted Towers
- Command Cavern
- Coney Crossroads
- The Daily Bugle
What is so good about it? The airships are mobile headquarters of the enemy IO faction. They not only contain large loot boxes but also many items to recharge your shield. Additionally, you have a higher position than the players below you. This gives you a better overview of the combat situation and allows you to ambush your opponents from behind.
The fans that keep the airship afloat can be used to escape with your glider. Ziplines can also be utilized to reach ground and airspace, enabling you to switch your surroundings quickly.
If enemies are chasing you, cannons are ready at the airship’s drive wheels. With them, you can shoot at distant foes or launch yourself. By shooting yourself into the air, you can cover long distances and avoid sticky situations.
What should you still consider? Since the airships belong to the IO unit, soldiers also patrol them. With shotguns and SMGs, they can inflict significant damage on you. If an enemy also ventures into the airship, you’ll face many problems.
With the horizontal ziplines, it can also happen that you fail to reach the airship platform when climbing. This could lead to a painful and embarrassing death.
