In Fortnite: Battle Royale, some pros are currently angry with developers Epic. The reason is something that should actually belong to the past.
What is the reason for the pro’s anger? The 8th season of Fortnite does not have as extreme changes as a larger map or planes, but at least a quarter of the map has been significantly remodeled.
In the northwest, there are now a volcano, a new lagoon, and a city with stepped pyramids. As a result, among other things, the golf course Lazy Links and the container yard have disappeared.
With one stroke, the developers have discarded the tactics of some pro-gamers who particularly liked to land in these places. And that just before the start of a major eSports tournament.
Epic breaks its good resolutions
Who is affected? The big tournament is the ESL Katowice Royale in Poland, taking place from March 1st to 3rd, 2019. There is a lot of money at stake, and therefore the pros have prepared well. Among them is also Poach from Team Liquid, who particularly liked to land at the containers that are now gone.
“I am at a 3-day tournament with $500k and I am prepared. Oh wait, my favorite landing spot just got removed!”
Epic actually didn’t want to do this anymore: A major change to the map, less than 24 hours before a huge tournament, is not a good thing for the pros. They have hardly any time to adapt to the new map and the new gameplay elements like geysers and cannons.
In the past, the developers have already caused displeasure, especially by unleashing zombies on the pros or a tournament with the newly introduced sword became quite absurd.
Since such changes angered the pros, Epic had actually promised not to make such drastic changes before major tournaments. However, that was apparently not possible with the start of Season 8. The pros are now at a disadvantage and vent their anger on Twitter.
But some see it with humor and suggest playing the pirate MMO Sea of Thieves instead as training. After all, this way they are prepared for pirates and the cannons.
