Fortnite posted some teasers on Twitter that told a story of Drift, an evil force, and an unknown character. But then they deleted everything. We will show you what happened.
Update 17:10: The suspicion has been confirmed. The mysterious character will actually be the next skin in the Crew Pack. Fortnite announced this on Twitter. It is “Vi”, a female character in fox style.
What happened? On Sunday, January 24, Fortnite published several posts on Twitter and changed their profile picture. They mentioned a fox clan that is said to be in danger. The posts were directed at Drift, known from Season 5 – Chapter 1.
But since an “evil force” is said to be after the clan, the tweets were deleted to cover their tracks. Will we soon see a new character coming to the Fortnite map?
“The Fox Clan is in Trouble”
What was seen in the tweets? As mentioned, all tweets and teasers have now been deleted by Fortnite. However, Forbes was able to secure screenshots of the tweets.
It started when Fortnite changed their profile picture on Twitter to show a logo of a fox. Then the first tweets addressing Drift appeared:
The connection was established and someone spoke to Drift. This mysterious character seems eager to have a conversation with Drift, as the fox clan is in dire need of help.
The character continues to say they are being hunted by something “evil and old” and he is the only one who could escape.
According to the character, Drift is also in danger, because “whoever gave you that mask has made you a target.” He seems to be referring to the fox mask that Drift wears in a style variant as a skin.
The mysterious character warns Drift that if they do not work together and form a team, the evil ones will soon be after him.
The connection had to be cut off as the evil ones approached. The mysterious character said he had to cover his tracks and that they would hopefully see each other again soon.
This was the last tweet before Fortnite deleted all posts related to it again and changed the profile picture back. It now looks like this conversation never took place on their Twitter profile. This is probably also the goal, so that this mysterious character is not discovered by this evil force.
Will this be a new Crew Skin?
What could these teasers mean? The story itself is already mysterious enough, but what could it all possibly mean? Here is what we know so far:
- The character from the tweets seems to still be unknown
- The teaser image shows a skin that does not exist yet
- The next Crew Skin has also been teased with a fox
So, looking at all the hints together, it seems very likely that this mysterious character could become the new skin from the Fortnite Crew Subscription.

It is also exciting that apparently the story of Drift seems to be repeating itself. He was the main character back when Season 5 – Chapter 1 ran. Now he seems to be returning in Season 5 – Chapter 2.
This repetition of the story also leads to another theory that players have: “The seasons repeat themselves in Chapter 2, but with a twist.” The theory that “Kevin” the cube will return in Season 6 and cause chaos on the map would also be a possibility to consider.
