Fortnite Battle Royale was recently released on the Nintendo Switch. Epic Games has now confirmed that there will be crossplay between almost all platforms.
At the Nintendo Direct for E3 2018 Fortnite was announced for the Nintendo Switch. The game has already been released today. Epic Games’ PR Manager Nick Chester confirmed shortly after the conference that players can play together across different platforms.
Fortnite on the Switch supports crossplay for:
- Xbox One
- PC
- Mac
- Mobile (iOS and also for the upcoming Android version)
The exception here is the PlayStation 4. Currently, no crossplay is allowed between Nintendo and Sony consoles.
Anyone who has played with their Fortnite account on the PS4 cannot play on the Switch with that account. The same applies vice versa.
Fortnite has its own servers on the Nintendo Switch
Nick Chester also confirmed that the Switch version of Fortnite will have its own servers. It is not a port of the mobile version. Fortnite is thus a “full-fledged” Switch game.
