In Fortnite, a skin is currently causing discussions in the community. Players are calling for a nerf for a skin because it is said to be “Pay2Win.” We will show you which skin it is and why players believe it should be nerfed.
What kind of skin is this? The skin, or rather the skins, that are supposed to receive a nerf are the superhero skins. These can be purchased in the shop and customized as desired. This can lead to cool combinations, but it also brings problems.
Actually, skins should not provide advantages in the game, but only aim for a cosmetic change for the character.
Superhero skins give unfair advantage
What is the problem? Since the superhero skins can be customized in color, there are certain combinations that can lead to an unfair advantage. Specifically meant are: a fully black or white skin. If players choose only one of these colors for the entire skin, they can blend into certain environments.
The impact of this in the game was shown by reddit user Pricytoaster. He posted a picture where an opponent was hiding with an entirely black superhero in a dark corner. Due to the shadows, it is hardly possible to recognize the skin:
Together with the picture, he asked the community whether the black superhero skins need a nerf.

Some players joined in who feel that Epic must do something about it. They write:
- “Yes, I have been killed by such a skin so many times and I can’t even see them. It annoys me that you can spend money to gain an advantage in the game.”
- “This is just unfair and Pay2Win. I usually don’t like to say such things, but anyone who thinks this is not unfair is just completely wrong. Epic needs to solve this as soon as possible – it’s been going on for too long.”
- “Epic, remove them immediately! The option to design the heroes only fully black or white ruins the fun because of their camouflage potential. Nerf the skin and only allow mixed colors. Only fully black and white is Pay2Win.”
The topic seems to concern some players, and we will have to wait and see if Epic will do something about it. Players also already have ideas for a nerf: “They could give them an outline, so it looks even more like comic book heroes.” With such a colored outline, the skins could stand out more from the environments.
This is not the first time that skins are considered Pay2Win in Fortnite.
