He has millions of viewers, earns huge amounts through his subscribers and has broken viewer records on Twitch multiple times. And the former Halo pro is also a good player.
Sounds like an easy job, but in reality, it’s hard work!

In an interview on the H3H3 podcast, Ninja talked about his work as a streamer. And that it really is “work”. Many people still think that streamers are actually lazy good-for-nothings who just play all day and get way too much money for it. “They should find a proper job!”, is often the tone.
This is what Ninja’s day looks like: However, the daily routine of Ninja is tougher than many everyday jobs.
- The streamer starts his working day at 9:30
- Then he streams until 4 p.m.
- Here he takes a break of three to four hours. He spends time with his wife and dogs. Sometimes there are also family evenings
- By around 7 p.m. he is usually back online and streams until 2 or 3 a.m.
Overall, Ninja ends up with a working day of 12 hours or more. On average, six to seven hours are allocated for sleep.
The performance must be right – every day!
His work as a professional streamer is still fun for Ninja, but it is very exhausting. After all, you have to deliver top performance every day and entertain millions of viewers.
However, Ninja finds it hardest to play great and be entertaining at the same time. He is basically constantly in the public eye and must always pay attention to impress his millions of fans. That can be quite exhausting.
Therefore, a healthy work-life balance is very important. The hours Ninja spends with his wife and dogs every day could help prevent burnout.
Burnout is a problem for professional streamers: That burnout phenomena in streamers are a serious problem is shown by the case of the streamer “Lirik”. He had to take a break in January to avoid burning out completely.
Lirik described his situation like that of a comedian who has to go on stage every day and eventually has nothing funny to say anymore. That he always had to deliver top performance and at the same time be funny became too much for him. After all, he could no longer just live in “meme land” and needed a break from the internet.
But Ninja doesn’t seem to have reached that point yet. However, it remains to be seen whether he can endure his murderous 12-hour shifts in the long run.
