Fortnite will likely receive significantly improved controls on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles with an upcoming update. Among other things, building will soon be easier, and you will be able to customize the button mapping of the gamepad freely with future updates.
Fortnite is popular in part because it has been available on PS4 and Xbox One consoles from the very beginning. However, many players feel that the controller controls are still not optimal.
Unlike the PC version, you cannot customize the button mapping freely. Some fans are annoyed by the targeting assistance when building, while others wish for quick keys for the various building elements.
All of this could possibly come to Fortnite very soon!
Button-Mapping, Shoulder Buttons, and More in Upcoming Updates?
On Reddit, a player wanted to know if free button mapping, meaning a custom configuration of the gamepad buttons, would soon be available.
Another player, on the other hand, wanted an update that maps the four building elements – ceilings, ramps, walls, and roofs – to one of the shoulder buttons of the controller each. This way, you would be much faster at building.
As is customary with the developer Epic, someone from the team immediately responded on Reddit and clarified the planned changes:
- The shoulder buttons for faster building are indeed planned and will come to the game soon, most likely in the upcoming update that is expected to be released on April 11.
- The freely assignable buttons and the solution for the annoying targeting assistance when building will also be addressed, but probably in later updates that do not yet have a set timeline.
Are the planned changes for the controls in Fortnite to your liking? Or would you prefer different adjustments to the consoles first?
