The car football game Rocket League launches as a F2P game and celebrates it in Fortnite. There are bonuses for both games – how does it work?
What’s happening with Rocket League: Starting September 23 at 5 PM, Rocket League will switch to a Free2Play model. The game will also land in the Epic Game Store – and requires, by the way, an Epic Games account even on Steam.
The Free2Play launch will then be appropriately celebrated in the game with a new event. But Rocket League is not the only place where it takes place: Fortnite is also involved in an event called “Llama-Rama”.

What does Fortnite have to do with Rocket League? Developer Psyonix was bought by Epic in 2019. Fortnite and Rocket League essentially belong to the same stable. It seems they want to use this to promote the F2P launch of Rocket League.
This is what to expect at Llama-Rama: The Llama-Rama event starts on Sunday night, September 27, at 00:00 German time.
In both games, you can expect bonuses that you can only earn in Rocket League. There will be challenges that primarily earn you cosmetics in both games – which are tailored to the respective other game. The task list is as follows:
- Rocket League Challenge 1: Play an online match in any playlist
- Rocket League Reward: Antenna “Llama Flyer”
- Fortnite Reward: Rocket League Spray
- Rocket League Challenge 2: Win a casual online match with the antenna “Llama Flyer”.
- Rocket League Reward: Topper “Top Llama”
- Fortnite Reward: Drop trails “Holodata”
- Rocket League Challenge 3: Score 5 goals, assists, or saves with the topper “Top Llama”.
- Rocket League Reward: Octane sticker “Loot Llama”
- Fortnite Reward: Music track “Rocket Groove”
- Rocket League Challenge 4: Win 5 online matches in any playlist with the Octane sticker “Loot Llama”.
- Rocket League Reward: “Llama” wheels
- Fortnite Reward: Emote “Rocket League”
- Rocket League Challenge 5: Become MVP in any online match with the “Llama” wheels.
- Rocket League Reward: Battle Bus and Battle Balloon antenna, Battle Bus wheels and Battle Bus engine sound
- Fortnite Reward: Back accessory “Octane RL” and style variant
With the challenges, you can unlock the Battle Bus as a new vehicle for Rocket League and score goals! And in Fortnite, there are plenty of Rocket League-style cosmetics to earn. In addition to the challenges, there will also be a Fortnite concert on the Party Royale island by DJ Slushii, who is represented both on Fortnite’s Radio Yonder and in Rocket League.
