In Fortnite (PC, PS4, iOS & Xbox One), data miners have once again uncovered information about new game modes. In “Tactics Showdown” and “Ground Game”, there is less building material and ammunition. So you have to act tactically – like in PUBG!
With update 4.4, new hidden data were introduced to the game. Therefore, data miners have already dug deep into the code and dragged information about one or even two new game modes into the limelight.
But whether there are two new modes or just one: building deniers and ammunition savers will be pleased and will be able to play Fortnite more in PUBG style.
Tactics Showdown and Ground Game
According to the information from the data mining, there should be playlists for the new modes “Tactics Showdown” and “Ground Game”. Both modes have quite similar descriptions:
- Ammunition supplies are limited
- Building materials are rarer
- Buildings withstand less damage
- Players leave fewer resources upon death
Instead, players should focus more on combat and do less building spam. Additionally, the popular tactic “Spray & Pray” is no longer effective, as ammunition is so scarce. This refers to the act of simply shooting wildly, hoping to hit something.
PUBG meets Fortnite? All of this is more reminiscent of the tactical and realistic gameplay of PUBG than of the wild building and shooting of Fortnite.
Players are skeptical
Whether the two game modes ultimately turn out to be just one mode and whether it will actually come into play soon is still unclear. However, some players on the internet are not particularly happy about the direction this mode is taking. After all, building is supposed to be the great unique feature of Fortnite.
The wrong direction? And only those who build perfectly are true top gamers in the game. Is Epic trying to remove the last real “skill gap” in the game and favor noobs? Other players see it differently and are looking forward to not always standing in front of walls when they want to land a good shot.
How everything will unfold in the new modes (or mode) remains to be seen when everything is online. What is your opinion on this game mode? Would you prefer less building and playing Fortnite more like a regular shooter? Or is this the wrong way for Epic?
