In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Switch & Xbox One) the game mode “Solo Showdown” is back. In it, you can rank up and win valuable V-Bucks. And the best participants are even part of the eSports at the Summer Skirmish.
Compete with the best: The Solo Showdown is a game mode that does not differ in gameplay from regular Fortnite. You play normal solo rounds and try to survive as long as possible and rack up kills.
The catch in the Solo Showdown is that your successes in battle influence your ranking and there is a leaderboard. And the best players win substantial prizes!
50,000 V-Bucks for the winner
How does the ranking work? Your first 25 games in the Solo Showdown are counted and evaluated by the game. It depends on your placement in the match but also on kills. The whole action runs until July 30, 2018, so get moving.
What can you win? The best player from the ranking receives 50,000 V-Bucks. That’s equivalent to 500 Euros! Then follow additional hefty V-Buck prizes:
- 2nd – 4th place: 25,000 V-Bucks
- 5th – 50th place: 13,500 V-Bucks
- 51st – 100th place: 7,500 V-Bucks
Is there a catch? You must be at least 16 years old to participate. This could mean, for example, that an eSports professional cannot win.
Tournament participation possible
Is there more? Epic reserves the right to invite the best players from the Solo Showdown to a future round of the tournament format “Summer Skirmish”. But that may just be a rather dubious honor for the winners.
Problems in the eSports tournament: Because the first rounds of Epic’s official eSports format were a disaster. This was due to players acting extremely defensively because of the extremely high prize money. Also, building was done excessively.
This led to lags, and Epic eventually had to cancel the tournament completely. On the other hand, it’s about a lot of money, and Epic is already working feverishly to get the issues of the eSports league under control. So it remains exciting.
