What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 12.00 will be deployed today across all platforms. “Fortnite Status” announced the update on Twitter. This is the start of “Season 2”.
When does the new season start in Fortnite? With the update 12.00, Season 2 – Chapter 2 in Fortnite will start today on February 20. So far, it is still unclear what the new season will bring. However, the teasers we have received show:
- Phone numbers that could be called. Various recordings were heard regarding oil rigs, agents, and a vault.
- A golden handprint (agents organization?)
- Many images with golden puzzle pieces that can fit together.
Fortnite servers are going down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: At 9:30 AM CET, you may join a new lobby for the last time. At 10 AM, the servers will no longer be reachable and Fortnite will be down.
How long will the maintenance work last? Since a new season is being initiated with update 12.00, the maintenance may take longer than usual.
What we know about the patch size: The Fortnite team posted on Reddit that it is a larger update.
However, technical problems or other delays could further extend the maintenance work. If that is the case, you will find out here.

What new content does update 12.00 bring for the start of Season 2?
What new features will there be in Battle Royale? With the start of Season 2, we could expect some changes. Fortnite Status has announced in a tweet that we should be ready to be activated.
So far, we only have the teasers mentioned earlier. However, there are changes that are definitely coming:
- A new battle pass for Season 2
- Changes in the mode: Team Rumble
Epic Games announced on Reddit that they will change the Team Rumble mode. These changes will be made:
- All weapons are rare (blue) or have a higher rarity (purple/gold)
- Bandages will be removed
- Glider redeploy is included and does not consume an inventory slot
- 150 of each material type equipped at the start of the match
- Skill-based matchmaking disabled
- Elimination target raised to 125 (previously 100)
What will the update bring for the Save the World mode? What update 12.00 will bring for “Save the World” is unfortunately not yet known.
Players have been waiting a long time for the finished locker feature that is supposed to be available in “Save the World”. However, this will only be available with the first update 12.10 of the new season.
