What happens during the server downtime? The servers will be taken offline. During this time, you cannot play Fortnite.
When does the server downtime in Fortnite start? The servers will go offline on October 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A short time before (about half an hour), matchmaking will be disabled (Source: x.com).
When can I play Fortnite again? That depends on the size of the update and the duration of the downtime. This is a major update, so expect about 1 – 2 hours.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games now only occasionally posts patch notes for updates, usually only after the downtime. As soon as they are available, you can read them here.

What can I expect with the upcoming update? The reliable leaker Shiina on X has already prepared some details regarding the upcoming contents of the update. You can thus expect the following contents:
- New collaborations are coming, including the KPop Demon Hunters
- Details about the new OG Season
- New mythic items
- New details on Fortnitemares 2025 as well as leaks on upcoming skins
According to Shiina, the Demon Hunters are even supposed to receive their own mode: Demon Rush. In it, you will likely have to fight against demons in different rounds to defeat a boss in the end. This has not yet been confirmed, so stay tuned for the upcoming leaks.
