Today, on Wednesday, December 2, the Fortnite servers will be down on all platforms (PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Android). During this time, the new update 15.00 will be implemented. What's in the new patch? And when does the new Season 5 in Fortnite start?
Update 8:55 AM: Now the Season 5 Battle Pass trailer is here. It provides a glimpse of the skins that will accompany you in the pass over the coming weeks.
Update 7:35 AM: The first trailer for Season 5 is here. Jonesy, the Zero Point, and a lot of chaos were shown – see it here.
What happens today in Fortnite? After the live event with Galactus took place yesterday, on December 1, Fortnite was unreachable for a few hours.
In the game, a countdown appeared that counted down 7 hours to 6:00 AM German time. Season 5 was supposed to start then, but there is now another server downtime that will implement update 15.00. Fortnite Status announced this on Twitter.
Fortnite servers will be shut down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: The downtime will begin at 6:00 AM German time. The servers will then be shut down and Fortnite will remain down.
How long will the maintenance take? Since a new season is being introduced with update 15.00, the maintenance may take longer than usual. Fortnite Status indicated that the season start should take place at 10:00 AM.
Technical issues or other delays may further extend the maintenance. If that happens, you will find out here on MeinMMO.
Important info about the patch size: Fortnite Status has already announced that the patch will be somewhat larger on PC and Nintendo Switch. However, the exact size of the patch is not yet known. But this should not affect the duration of the maintenance.
What new content does update 15.00 bring for the start of Season 4?
What new things will there be in Battle Royale mode? The start of Season 5 could bring some changes. After all, players were able to successfully battle the world eater Galactus – did the fight leave its marks on the map?
One thing that will definitely come with the start of Season 5 is:
- A new battle pass, where a few skins have already been revealed
- The new crew subscription, which has already been announced by Epic
For iOS players, it will once again not be possible to participate in the season start. Fortnite is still banned from the App Store. However, there should soon be a way to play Fortnite on iOS devices. This should be possible thanks to GeForce Now. Perhaps iOS players will soon be able to enjoy the new season together with other platforms.
