In Fortnite, some players are currently experiencing server issues. The developers are apparently already working on it.
Fortnite with server issues: Several players are currently reporting problems logging into Fortnite. Starting the game seems to be currently impossible.
This appears to be a bug affecting only PC and mobile players. PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch seem to be unaffected so far.
Epic is monitoring server status
Update, May 5, 8:40 PM: By now, the issues should have been resolved. Fortnite Status announced via Twitter that all services are running again, as expected:

This is what Epic says: The developers are already aware of the issue. Via Twitter, the official “Fortnite Status” account communicated that they are already investigating the login server issues. Only PC, Mac, and mobile platforms are reported as affected here.

A solution to the login issues does not seem to have been found yet. They will reach out again with information as soon as the server issues are resolved.
Recently, Fortnite celebrated Star Wars Day – including the return of some Star Wars skins like Rey and Kylo Ren, as well as the controversial lightsabers. However, the return ends today, May 5 – so if players can only get back into the game later, they should not be surprised if the lightsabers are already gone again.
