Today, on Thursday, May 7th, the Fortnite servers will go down on all platforms (PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, iOS, Android). During this time, the new update 12.51 will be implemented. What’s in the new patch?
What happens today in Fortnite? The update 12.51 will be implemented today on all platforms. Fortnite Status has announced the patch on Twitter.
This is maintenance work aimed at fixing bugs in the game. The patch is unlikely to bring new content.
Before players can continue to explore the map, the Fortnite servers will be taken offline.
Fortnite servers will be taken offline – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: Downtime will begin at 8:00 AM German time. At 7:30 AM, you can join a new round for the last time. After that, the servers will be unreachable and Fortnite will be down.
How long will the maintenance last? Based on experiences from the last weeks and months, the work should be completed by noon at the latest.
If there are any problems and extensions of the maintenance work, MeinMMO will inform you about it.
When will the patch notes be released? Presumably, no patch notes will be released for the Battle Royale mode from Epic Games again.
Since this is just a patch for maintenance, only minor bugs will likely be fixed. However, if there are any major changes, we will collect them and publish them in the form of patch notes on MeinMMO.
What new content does update 12.51 bring?
What’s new in the Battle Royale mode? In this update, only bugs that are currently present in the game are likely to be fixed. These bugs can be found in Fortnite:
- Hit indicators are displayed in the wrong direction
- “Midas Touch” still doesn’t turn weapons into gold for some players
- Music from emotes is played over the stage music in party royale mode

What does the update bring for the Save the World mode? What new features the new update brings for the Save the World mode is unfortunately still unclear. Since update 12.51 is likely a small patch, there probably won’t be any new features for this mode.
After the update, pay attention to “The Agency” on the Fortnite map, as you can influence the story of Season 2 by choosing Team Ghost or Shadow. Your choice could bring changes to the map. So far, there haven’t been any major changes like in the other major hideouts.
