What is happening today in Fortnite? The update 12.40 will be applied across all platforms today. Fortnite Status announced the patch on Twitter.
Update 10:45 AM: The update 12.40 is now live. In the German patch notes, we show you what has changed.
This update is hopefully going to be larger and fix some bugs as well as bring new content.
However, before players can go exploring, the Fortnite servers will first be taken down.
Fortnite servers being taken down – when and for how long?
Downtime start in the morning: The downtime for update 12.40 will start at 8:00 AM. At 7:30 AM German time, you will be able to join a new lobby one last time. After that, the servers will finally be unreachable, and Fortnite will be down.
How long will maintenance take? Based on the experiences of the past weeks and months, the work should be completed by lunchtime at the latest.
However, technical problems or other delays could extend the maintenance. If that happens, you will find out here.
When will the patch notes be available? In the past weeks, no patch notes for the Battle Royale mode from Epic Games have been published.

What new content does update 12.40 bring?
What will be new in the Battle Royale mode? The announcement from Fortnite Status did not provide any hints about what the update might bring. However, it is likely that some bugs will be fixed, such as:
- The grenades could return after a severe glitch was found with them
- Midas’ touch doesn’t always turn weapons and items into gold
- Controllers do not vibrate when players are hit by a shot

What does the update bring for the “Save the World” mode? The Easter spirit has started in the “Save the World” mode with update 12.30 as some Easter heroes are back in the shop.
