What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 12.31 will be installed today on all platforms. Fortnite Status announced the patch on Twitter.
Update 11:00 AM: The update 12.31 is now here. We will show you in the German patch notes what has changed.
This patch will likely fix bugs and not bring major content to the game.
However, for this patch, the servers will still be shut down and players will have to wait before they can unleash on the map again.
Fortnite servers will be shut down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: The downtime for update 12.31 will start early again today. At 7:30 AM German time, you can join a new lobby for the last time. At 8:00 AM, the servers will finally be unavailable and Fortnite will be down.
How long will the maintenance take? Based on the experiences of the last weeks and months, the work should be completed before lunchtime at the latest.
Technical problems or other delays may extend the maintenance work. If this is the case, you will be informed here.
When will the patch notes come? In the last weeks, no patch notes for the Battle Royale mode from Epic Games have been published.

What new content does update 12.31 bring?
What new things will there be in the Battle Royale mode? Fortnite Status has announced on Twitter that it is a patch for maintenance work.
Bugs will likely be fixed such as:
- The Codeaxe pickaxe might be available again in the locker for its owners
- The graphic errors on the PS4 should be fixed

What does the update bring for the “Save the World” mode? The Easter spirit has already begun last week in the Save the World mode with update 12.30. Some Easter heroes have returned to the shop.
Whether this patch will bring more festivities is unfortunately still unclear.
Keep an eye out for “The Shark” on the Fortnite map after the update today, as you can influence the story of Season 2 if you choose Team Ghost or Shadow. Your choice could bring some changes to the map.
