Update 1:30 PM: The update 17.00 has now been deployed and brought the new Season 7. There are now some new things in Fortnite. Here you can see:

Update 8:45 AM: The servers are still down while update 17.00 with the new Season 7 is being deployed. However, the first trailers are already appearing, showing the first insights:

What’s happening today in Fortnite? The update 17.00 was announced by Fortnite Status on Twitter and is supposed to be deployed today. This is the important patch that brings Season 7 of Chapter 2 to Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Before players can embark on an exploration tour, the Fortnite servers will be taken down for a short period of time as always.
Fortnite servers will be taken down – when and for how long?
Downtime starts in the morning: The downtime will begin at 8:00 AM German time. Then the servers will be taken down and Fortnite will be down for a while. How long will the maintenance take? Since update 17.00 initiates the new Season 7 of Chapter 2, the maintenance may take longer than usual. Technical issues or other delays may further extend the maintenance period. If that’s the case, you will find out here on MeinMMO.
Important info regarding patch size: The exact size of the patch is still unknown. However, it is always assumed that a new season will involve a relatively large update that needs to be downloaded. This is mainly because new seasons often come with map changes.
Fortnite Status itself also states on Twitter that the patch size will be “larger than normal on all platforms.”
What contents does update 17.00 bring to Fortnite?
This is confirmed: It is clear that the new season will be available in Fortnite after the update. However, the exact changes are not yet fully known. There are a few things that have already been confirmed – such as:
- Makeshift weapons will disappear from the game
- Breaking of interrogations (Shakedown) on opponents will be introduced
- Fortnite on PC will receive graphics improvements
This is speculated: Season 7 will likely revolve around aliens and UFOs – at least that’s the hints that have been observed so far. In the game itself, players are currently being abducted by UFOs and dropped off in other locations. It is suspected that aliens will still be active in Season 7. Perhaps they will also bring new weapons and skins from another planet?
