In Fortnite, you can soon take on the role of the heroine Aloy from the post-apocalyptic game “Horizon Zero Dawn” – provided you purchase the skin in the in-game shop. However, there is another way to get the outfit on PS4 and PS5.
When will the skin be released? The new Aloy skin will be available in the Fortnite shop starting April 16, 2021 – along with other items from “Horizon: Zero Dawn.” The entire package consists of:
- The outfit “Aloy”
- A back accessory “Lohebehälter”
- The pickaxe “Aloy’s Spear”
- The glider “Grauhabicht”
- The wrap “Schildweberin”
- And the emote “Heart in Sight”
Additionally, there is a loading screen called “Aloy, the Skywatcher” when you purchase the items as a package rather than individually. Players on PS5 will also receive an alternate style called “Ice Hunter Aloy.”
Aloy Cup lets PlayStation players compete for the skin earlier
This is how the tournament works: Exclusively on PS4 and PS5, starting Wednesday, April 14, there will be the so-called “Aloy Cup,” where players can win the skin package before its release on April 16 – if they are among the best players in their respective regions.
Players compete in duos and must collect as many points as possible. Points are awarded for survival in the match, as well as for eliminations. Bonus points are given for eliminations with a bow. This fits Aloy, who in Horizon also primarily relies on the hunting instrument. In the new prehistoric season of Fortnite, the bow is one of the most important weapons.
However, to participate in the tournament, you must have an Epic account with at least level 30 and have two-factor authentication enabled.
Special mode with Lara Croft and Aloy sends you on the hunt
Aloy is not the only heroine currently on Fortnite. Lara Croft came to the island with the start of the season and is one of the skins in the new battle pass.
In the new mode “A Great Team! Aloy & Lara”, you can compete in matches as a duo, automatically equipped with one of the skins. The twist: There will be no weapons to pick up, you will have to rely on Aloy with the bow or Lara with the twin pistols. However, you can improve the weapons through crafting during the match. For this, you should hunt the wildlife of the Fortnite island.
The mode could provide a slightly different player experience than what players are used to from the regular battle royale on the Fortnite island. Lara Croft recently created a new mode that also felt like a completely different Fortnite.
