In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4, iOS, Android, Switch & Xbox One) the current Season 5 is slowly coming to an end. But what about Season 6? Here is what we already know about the start, new skins, or a change on the map.
The end of Season 5 is near: Since August 24, 2018, Season 5 has been headed towards the finale. As in previous months, something big happens at the end of the season. In this case a huge purple cube. It appeared at Paradise Palms and pushes away anyone who touches or attacks it.
Additionally, the cube rolls over the map, tipping over regularly in a certain direction. But where is it headed and what does that mean for Season 6?
Start of Season 6 – When does it begin?
The date is known: According to the timer in the game, Season 5 lasts until September 26, 2018.
Season 6 is set to officially start on September 27, 2018, according to Epic.
The Path of the Cube – Does it lead to Loot Lake?
Based on traces found by data miners, it seems that the cube aims for Loot Lake. There are several reasons for this:
- Loot Lake has not been updated in ages, the region was spared by the rocket or the comet from previous seasons
- Loot Lake is terribly boring, as a large part of the area consists only of hard-to-cross water. Only in the end game, when the storm forces players there and they have enough materials to build bridges, does the area become somewhat interesting. An update is therefore urgently needed!
- Loot Lake is quite central, but currently serves no meaningful purpose in the game, as no one likes to land there at the start of a match.
The lake must go! All these reasons suggest that Epic should remodel the picturesque lake. And what better way to do that than to drop a huge purple cube that reshapes everything? Some theories even speak of a lava lake or a SciFi city.
Crazy Castle? – What new locations could come?
So far, every season has introduced at least one new location, most recently the golf course Lazy Links, the desert region Paradise Palms, and the unnamed Viking ship at Greasy Grove. However, there are hints of a new location: a castle!
Is a castle named Crazy Castle coming? Rumors about a castle named Crazy Castle emerged when a new spray logo bearing that name first appeared. Alliterations as place names are typical for Fortnite.
The castle in the background: The rumors about the castle gained further momentum when a teaser for a new emote revealed a blurred structure in the background that looked like a castle.
And since nothing at Epic seems to happen by chance, this could well be a hint at a new location called Crazy Castle coming soon.
More time travel or going back to the beginning?
Where is the Viking ship? Strangely, the Viking ship on the mountain is not visible in the picture with the alleged castle. Does that mean the ship is about to disappear again?
What is the Enforcer about? Perhaps time travel will be reversed again. This would also fit with the story twist in week 7, as a group of hooded figures suddenly appeared on the new bonus image, coming from a rift and looking quite aggressive.
Enforcers could turn back time
Is the time travel police coming? These are the Enforcers, who are available as a special bonus skin from the Road Trip Challenge.
These “Enforcers” want to “restore order” according to their description text. So, could it be a kind of space-time police that puts a stop to the colorful time travel antics in Fortnite?
More or less time travel? On the other hand, they could also fail and accelerate the whole time travel theme even more. Then it would also make sense for another castle to appear and for the Viking ship to potentially reappear at a different location. This would also explain why it still doesn’t have a name.
What items could come next?
New forms of movement: So far, each season has brought at least four new consumable items that improved your mobility. These were the Hop Rocks in Season 4 and the rifts in Season 5.
The consumable items disappeared in the next season, but a piece of equipment that did something similar remained. These were the bounce pads and the portable rifts.
This item might emerge from the cube: Season 6 will likely introduce an item related to the cube. Perhaps a type of “damage shield” that absorbs hits for a short time and bounces them back at the attacker.
Later, this could become a kind of aggressive shield potion. But that is currently pure speculation.
What skins are to be expected in Season 6?
More historical skins? Right now, we don’t know exactly what the cube will cause. However, if more time and dimension travels occur, then many more historical outfits could be possible.
It would certainly be cool to see more knights, a kind of king/queen (this would also match the term battle royale), or the long-awaited Romans, Egyptians, pirates, or cowboys.
