Chapter 2 Season 3 of Fortnite: Battle Royale starts in a few days. There are now increasing leaks with a water theme. Is the whole map going to flood?
The latest Fortnite leak: Just a few hours ago, there was a new leak about Season 3 in Fortnite. It shows a water theme for the new season, which will start on Wednesday, June 17.
Originally, the season was supposed to start earlier, but it has now been postponed multiple times.
Perhaps there was some chaos in marketing due to one of these delays.
As data miner Hypex explains, Sony leaked the icons for Season 3 of Chapter 2 in Fortnite. Here’s what the leaks look like:
What can be seen in the leak? Your beloved Battle Bus, which guides you over the map at the beginning of a match, flies against a water background.
There have already been several hints that the new season in Fortnite would be heavily associated with water. This leak strongly confirms that.
As early as April, graphics appeared suggesting that the Fortnite map could soon be flooded. Even during the live event with Travis Scott, players reportedly found key hints with a swimming scene.
The depicted island with palm trees reminds some players of the prominent yellow sponge “SpongeBob”. Now some also suspect an event in the new season.
How realistic is that? That water is coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale is not unusual. Chapter 2 already launched with a significant introduction of liquid content. There were boats again, players could swim and even fish. And the fishing was initially quite powerful, as streamer Tfue demonstrated.
It is clear that the developers at Epic Games are friendly towards the water theme. However, it is possible that this will be elevated to a new level with larger dimensions in the new season. The teasers certainly give that impression.
What is the concern? If Fortnite in Season 3 consists largely of water, the gameplay would have to adapt in that direction.
On Reddit, user fluffles0119 writes that he wishes for a summer theme for Season 3: “You can do a lot with the [theme] summer, not much with the [theme] water”
Repeatedly, sentences like this can be found on Reddit from PFDRC. He writes, “I am hyped and concerned at the same time”.
Players are unsure whether Fortnite can really succeed in successfully integrating a water theme in Battle Royale. There is also fear about how strongly the theme will influence the map. Our author Eilyn Rapp writes, “If Season 3 turns Fortnite into a pure water game, I’m out“
