In Fortnite , the start of Season 10 is likely to be in August, significantly later than planned. July looks to be a wild month: with Fortnite’s birthday, the Fortnite World Cup, and the start of the event before Season 10 – after all, a monster is on the loose. When does Season 10 start in Fortnite – What can we expect?
When does Season 9 end? Seasons in Fortnite last 10 weeks. Season 9 started on May 9, so it officially ends on July 18.
However, everything points to Epic Games declaring a “extension” and the season running until August 1.
When does Season 10 start in Fortnite? An official date has not yet been announced. However, it looks like Season 10 will start on Thursday, August 1.
This was already hinted at by the PlayStation Store at the beginning of Season 9.

What will happen in the two extra weeks? It can be assumed that there will be a “transition phase” in Fortnite between July 18 and August 1 with two major events:
- On one hand, there is Fortnite’s birthday, which Epic will likely celebrate on the first weekend, around July 19, July 20.
- On the other hand, the big Fortnite World Championship for $30 million is the following weekend. This will take place from July 26 to July 28.
Epic has already confirmed via reddit that Season 9 will still be running while the Fortnite World Cup is played (via reddit).
Initially, Fortnite players feared that the Fortnite World Cup would even span over 3 seasons and bring new rules all the time.
Fortnite in July: Birthday, World Cup, and a Boss Fight?
What can we expect in the 2 weeks? We can expect that there will be a spectacle surrounding Fortnite during both transition weeks:
- The last time for the birthday there was a huge event with rewards. Players had to collect cake pieces.
- The Fortnite World Cup will surely be celebrated in the game – special skins or events are possible.
- At the start of the season on Thursday, August 1, a big event is surely planned. After all, the monster is still on the loose in Fortnite. There could even be a live event – perhaps the huge boss fight that has been hinted at for so long.
Has this happened before? Yes, Season 7 in Fortnite was also extended. February 14 to February 28 was actually a dead time.
However, Epic then introduced “extension tasks” in February to give players something to do.
These “extended seasons” are each associated with a 2-week mandatory break that Epic gives its employees to recover from the stressful development of Fortnite.
Around Christmas, Epic took 2 weeks off, during which the “14 Days of Fortnite” started. Even now in summer, Epic takes 2 weeks off and lets the “14 Days of Summer” run.
It’s likely that much of what will happen in July has already been prepared intensively in the last weeks and months. Epic seems to be gearing up for a peak in July 2019 and requires the time for it.
