For Fortnite, patch 1.53 has been released for PS4 and needs to be downloaded. The update is larger than 10 GB. However, the patch notes are vague. Epic apologizes for the massive patch. It was not planned for the update 1.53 for Fortnite to be so gigantic.
Currently, users on PlayStation 4 who want to play Fortnite need to download more than 10 GB to install update 1.53. The curious thing is: There is almost nothing in the patch. It is merely crash fixes.
Thus, the patch does not require downtime, but is more of a hotfix that simply needs to be downloaded if one wants to continue using the network functions.

After patch 1.51, which brought remote rocket launchers and the new sniper mode v2 to Fortnite on PS4 last week, players are complaining about issues. There are stutters, weapons are floating, and there are difficulties with skins.
The developers at Epic have already provided a hotfix, but now they have to address the 10GB update again. But that has gone wrong.
Epic apologizes for 10-GB PS4 patch
The massive patch for PS4 is probably way too large. In Fortnite, they apologize for the mammoth thing. It was not planned. Now they are looking into the problem and apologize for the inconvenience.
Patch notes for Fortnite 1.53
The patch notes state:
- We have implemented fixes for several crashes with Fortnite
- And general improvements and various issue resolutions

A proper update for Fortnite is likely coming tomorrow
For Thursday, another update is expected. The weapon vending machines that exchange materials for guns will probably be found here.
Also, only a hotfix update is likely planned for tomorrow without downtime. We will report on Mein MMO as soon as we know more. The patch even came today on Wednesday. This is included in the latest Fortnite update 3.4.
Update: About the hefty 10-GB PS4 patch, Epic made another statement around 4:45 PM. It should now only weigh 470 MB.
