In Fortnite there are many features. Some of them do not work quite optimally, while others run so exceptionally well that they are still changed and adapted, even though a change is not necessary. We at MeinMMO show you what Epic changed this time.
What feature is it? This is about the User Interface, short UI for the locker. This means the in-game view. In Fortnite, the locker gives access to your unlocked items such as skins, emoticons, weapon skins, and more.
There you can assemble combinations of different style options so that you are unmistakable in combat. After the Patch 18.40, however, the system was changed in such a way that it was not simplified but made more complicated for controller players. Players are therefore wondering why this change was necessary at all.
Complicated and not well thought out
How does it work now? If you now want to change a specific cosmetic of one of your fashion combinations in your locker, you now have to fight through your entire collection to press the sort button.
If you manage that, you can at least sort everything by alphabet, date, importance, or even by your favorites. The problem is that your sorting is not saved. So, you’ll have to fight through the jungle of your collection again to get back to the sort button for your favorites.
A small trick can help: You can shorten this by pressing “Triangle” on PlayStation or “Y” on Xbox. This makes it a little easier, but your sorting is still not saved here. So, you have to undergo this procedure every time.
How was it before? Before Patch 18.40, the UI in the locker was sorted with existing tabs. You could easily switch between your tabs with new items, your favorites, or reactive items using the shoulder buttons. This saved you time and unnecessary button presses. However, this has now been unnecessarily complicated for console players.
What does the community think about it? On the discussion platform reddit, many players expressed their displeasure about this change.
There, a user “Jtclone” posted a comment with the amusing title: “Epic Games uses the power of the Zero Point to make the most unnecessary changes to the locker.” The post garnered nearly 3,000 upvotes and over 100 comments in less than a day (As of November 19 – 12:20 PM via reddit)
Players are wondering below the post why a change is made to a functioning system. There are plenty of other broken features that need an overhaul, like for example, the group pickaxe mode.
This mode was initially fantastic and players loved it, but after a few unnecessary changes, players complained about the intolerable state of the mode. It is currently unplayable and no longer fun. Players would have preferred Epic to address this issue.
Meanwhile, PC players have no problem. They can easily click the sort button with their mouse and make their changes.
