Fortnite: Battle Royale is extremely successful, but customer support is currently lacking. Therefore, an agency has given the developer Epic a flat grade of 6 for support.
What is behind the bad grades for Epic? In the USA, the independent agency Better Business Bureau (BBB) assigns grades to companies to evaluate them. In terms of customer service, Fortnite developer Epic has now received an “F”, which means a flat grade of 6.
The customer service is faltering
How did the bad rating come about? According to the Better Business Bureau, Epic’s customer service is disastrous. Last year alone, 271 complaints about Epic were filed with the BBB. After a year, 247 of those complaints remain unanswered.
What bothers customers about Epic? Most complaints are directed at Epic’s customer support. Many customers are still victims of hackers and expect prompt assistance with account theft.
This does not seem to be the case, as one dissatisfied customer stated, “There is no phone number or reasonable response time to emails to recover an unauthorized purchase of 160 USD. No one responds and I feel cheated!”.
Long waiting times and little help
Is the support really that bad? Users on Reddit are also complaining about the support. According to one user, it takes two or more weeks to finally get a response.
By the time a solution is found, even more time would pass. One user reports three long months. “For the amount of money they have, this is really the worst customer service,” notes a frustrated player.
It is also criticized that there is no live chat with support and instead, customers have to deal with long wait times and endlessly back-and-forth emails.
This is the help Epic recommends: However, hackers have been a problem in Fortnite for a long time. Customer service has hardly been able to keep up for months and instead offers free emotes to encourage customers to take action and protect their accounts with 2-factor authentication.
This would make it harder for hackers to hijack the accounts, and support wouldn’t have to intervene at all.
What do you think about the situation? Have you ever had problems and needed help from customer service? And were you helped right away or did you have to wait forever?
