The superpowers of Marvel heroes in Season 4 of Fortnite are really strong. In fact, they have a cooldown. But pros use tricks to utilize the powers almost infinitely.
What is it about? Since the start of Season 4, Fortnite has been under the sign of Marvel heroes. Here and there, you will find abilities that directly affect gameplay. These include Doctor Doom’s Mystical Bomb or the Bramble Shield from Groot.
These abilities are already really strong, but through a trick, they are now even stronger. Normally, these special abilities have a cooldown of about 15 to 20 seconds. After use, you have to wait a bit before you can use the ability again. However, players have discovered that the cooldown only applies to the respective player and not to the item. This led to the emergence of a tactic.
Trick or exploit? How players use the superpowers
How does it work? This trick only works in Duos, Trios, or Squads. As a solo player, you cannot do this.
One player uses the ability, triggering a 20-second cooldown. They then drop it so that a teammate can pick it up. This teammate can now use it without cooldown. Once the cooldown for the first player is over, they use it again.
Doctor Doom’s Mystic Bomb actually has a 20-second cooldown. With 3 players in a group, you can drop 3 bombs in those 20 seconds instead of just one. Each player has their own cooldown on the item. You can find all bosses and their special abilities here in Fortnite.
As Dexerto reports, professional players like Clix, MackWood, and Calc use this tactic in matches against other pros and in public lobbies.
This is what it looks like: A YouTube video by Daily Clips Central discusses this tactic. Right at the start, you see the item swapping and the new tactic. The bombs fly towards the opponents in rapid succession. With good rotation and enough players on the team, the use of abilities is practically infinite.
At about 5 minutes and 17 seconds, a clip featuring the trio comes back again.
What is the problem? There is uncertainty about whether Fortnite actually intended this tactic or if the items themselves should have a cooldown and not the players.
So it remains to be seen whether Epic Games will bring a fix in the coming days and neutralize this tactic, or if this will become a foundation for upcoming professional tournaments and team matches.
