In Fortnite: Battle Royale (PC, PS4 & Xbox One) is set to receive a new skill-based matchmaking system. Many players are unhappy about this. Therefore, the developers want to carefully consider the matter and promise to listen to player feedback.
Fortnite: Battle Royale mentioned in the last developer update that a new matchmaking system is planned. The new system will select players based on their skills. This way, only approximately equally skilled players would play together.
This does not sit well with many fans. All rounds would become difficult and stressful. There would be no rounds where one could have easier opponents. Everyone would always compete at the same level.
Epic Games will consider player feedback
Since the developer Epic Games does not want to work past the fans, the devs have reassured on Twitter. They have heard the players’ concerns loud and clear.
We heard you loud and clear concerning changes to matchmaking! We’ll be sorting through all of the feedback we’ve been given and take it into careful consideration before taking any steps.

Therefore, they will take a close look at the fans’ feedback and reconsider. Only then will they make a final decision regarding the new matchmaking and inform the community.
Are there alternatives for matchmaking?
As alternatives to a skill-based matchmaking system, according to GameSpot, there could be so-called playlists. In these, players would decide whether to play on the “Casual” or “Serious” playlist.
This way, one could easily control whether they want the thrill of a well-balanced match or prefer to play relaxed fun rounds. Other games have been doing quite well with such a system.
The developers have a lot planned. Find out everything about the upcoming changes in Fortnite here!
