Fortnite pro Ali “SypherPK” Hassan has found a sneaky way to steal loot from the locked vaults without even setting foot inside. This is likely a glitch not intended by the game.
What are loot vaults? These vaults are bunkers that can be found at 3 different locations on the map. They are guarded by a mini-boss and their henchmen. You can also find the 6 new mythical weapons there.
They are opened with keycards that you get when the mini-boss is defeated. Inside the vault, there’s plenty of loot like weapons and shield items that help with survival.
The loot vaults were first introduced in Chapter 2, Season 2:

What kind of glitch is this? The Twitch streamer SypherPK, who provides cool kills with the kit grenade launcher, seems to have found a way to grab the loot from the locked bunker at The Fortilla without needing to enter.
This “trick” allows you to open the chests in the vault from the outside, and the loot falls out through the floor. The Fortnite pro demonstrated this in a video (via YouTube).
How does the glitch work? We do not want to explain an obvious exploit here, as this could lead to bans and diminish the gaming experience for everyone in Fortnite. Basically, it involves:
- Finding the loot vault at The Fortilla
- Finding the right spot to open chests from the outside
However, this glitch is limited, as players will not have access to all chests in the vault. Only 3 chests should be able to be opened this way.
Restricted but still unfair
Why this exploit is unfair: The purpose of these loot vaults is to earn the keycards first, to then be rewarded with excellent loot.
If players can now simply access the loot from the outside while honest players struggle through the masses to earn the coveted keycard, that is not fair. Once they enter the vault, they will see that almost half the loot is missing.
For players using this trick, it is enough to equip themselves with rare weapons and shield potions. After all, they do not have to make much effort to obtain the items.
Is a fix for the bug coming? It could be that Epic will respond to this glitch and introduce a fix with the next update or even deploy a hotfix. Since the pro SypherPK reaches many players with his videos, the issue is likely to reach the developers quickly.
It is also not the first time that a glitch has been discovered in the vaults. YouTuber Ali-A found an exploit that allowed him to glitch into the vault and ambush his opponents.
