The Fortnite pro Deyy caused a lot of buzz with an incident during a tournament. He fell asleep in the middle of it and missed a match. His teammates later complained about it on Twitter.
What happened? The Fortnite pro Deyy participated in the EpikWhale Cup of Fortnite along with 3 colleagues. However, Deyy missed an entire match because he fell asleep just before the round started.
He justified the faux pas with his tiredness. He also mentioned that he has to go to school at 8 AM the next day, which is why he was not interested in his teammates’ complaints.
15-year-old pro defends himself on Twitter
This is how the incident became public: Via Twitter, Deyy discussed the incident with his teammates. His colleagues, who had to play without him at times, were not happy at all that he had fallen asleep in the meantime.

Deyy took the situation a bit lighter. In a now-deleted tweet, he wrote: “I was unbelievably tired and wanted to take a short nap for a few minutes, which ended up with me missing the first game. But I can’t do anything about it now, except go back to sleep.”
His teammate Cented from the FaZe Clan responded angrily on Twitter: “We explicitly told you that you need to stay awake. The mood was bad and you fell asleep during the semifinals.”
In response to Cented’s accusations, Deyy initially reacted defiantly and said: “I don’t care. I have school at 8 AM tomorrow, so I’m not really worried.”
This is how it turned out: After tempers calmed down, the team qualified for the final of the tournament. On Twitter , Deyy also showed insight: “I take responsibility for my actions. I was wrong and I am currently under a lot of stress from the community. I will make sure something like this never happens again.”
His teammate Cented is also in a reconciliatory mood in the end. He writes that Deyy is only 15 years old and is going through a lot of stress. The community should stop making jokes. The pro adds: “If I were 15 and the whole community and other pros were tweeting jokes about me, I would tweet the same crap.”
In tournaments, Deyy has also played with the pro Reverse2K, who is known for setting a kill record together with Ninja.
What lies behind such stories: Especially the e-sports scene of Fortnite is filled with quite young pros. This was already evident at the World Cup 2019, where some 13-year-olds took home thousands of dollars in prize money.
Although the young players are professionals and play for a lot of money, they are still teenagers who also attend school on the side. In 2019, the then 15-year-old Benjyfishy made headlines when his mother took him out of school because of his Fortnite career. He is now one of the biggest Fortnite streamers.
Nevertheless, such players are often under immense pressure and there are often thoughtless statements on Twitter. A similar case also recently occurred on Twitch. There, a 16-year-old pro was banned after he thoughtlessly opened an image. This image then led to the ban of the streamer.
