The start of Season 3 in Fortnite is postponed again. After a delay of Season 2 was announced in April, there is now one more week added.
What happened? As announced on May 28 on the official website, the release of Chapter 2 – Season 3 has been postponed by another week.
The new launch date is now Thursday, June 11.
Accordingly, the unique live event “The Device,” which is supposed to take place at the end of Season 2, is also delayed. This is now scheduled for Saturday, June 6, at 8:00 PM German time.
Why is there a delay? According to Epic Games, everything should be “properly prepared” for the start of Season 3. To achieve this, the release is postponed by one week.
No further details about the reasons for the delay have been provided. However, in times of Corona and working from home, delays are becoming more common.
Not the first delay of Season 3
What is noticeable? Just on May 26, Fortnite launched a countdown announcing the event for Saturday, May 30. Currently (as of May 28 at 5:45 PM), this in-game countdown still shows this date. However, an adjustment is expected soon.
Additionally, the start of Season 3 is already delayed for the second time. With the official announcement for Season 3, it was stated that Season 2 would be extended by one week.
However, you can use the extended time to complete missing tasks in the Season 2 Battle Pass. Because it will be extended along with Season 2.
What will happen at the new event? It is still not clear what will happen during the live event “The Device.” Many indications suggest that the doomsday device might somehow change the Fortnite map.
There are leaks suggesting a hurricane that could plague the map and flood everything. The newly leaked skin certainly hints at such a scenario.

Such a scenario would not please MeinMMO author Eilyn Rapp. She can hardly imagine a Fortnite underwater. While we don’t know if this will actually happen, you should not miss the live event on June 6.
