The Playground in Fortnite: Battle Royale is still a limited-time mode with few customization options. This will change in the future. When will the currently running mode end? And what does Epic have planned for the future? Will the mode even be permanently available?
New mode popular: The Playground mode is very popular in the community. What some players create in just one hour of Creative is impressive. The positive reception of the mode by fans has not gone unnoticed by the developer Epic.
In a post on Reddit, Epic has now specifically addressed the future plans for the Playground.
When will the currently running mode end? The Playground was delayed but will remain longer than other limited-time modes. Epic will disable the Playground again on July 12, 2018. However, this is not a permanent goodbye – quite the opposite.
Epic plans to even make the mode permanently available, as suggested by a statement from the Fortnite Twitch channel:

Custom Teams and more: The Reddit post from Epic is even more detailed and addresses the features that they are currently working on. Epic plans to allow you to set your own teams.
But that’s not all:
- Aim Assist for controllers will be coming
- You will be able to edit structures of other players
- Traps should correctly distinguish between teammates and opponents
- Teammates should be marked on the map
- You can injure opponents with the pickaxe
All of this should be possible in the next version of the Playground. There will be further improvements, and players are encouraged to submit ideas.
According to Epic’s vision, the Playground will eventually be a standalone mode where players can express their creativity freely.
