In Fortnite finally came the long-awaited Playground as a new mode with Patch 4.5. But as soon as it was online, the developers took the new mode offline again. There were apparently problems. Epic has since been frantically working on a solution.
What is Playground? The Playground should be a free mode where you can mess around alone or in a team for an hour. There are respawns, and you can build a lot. It’s ideal for testing tactics or exploring the map.
Hardly there and already gone: Unfortunately, the developers apparently discovered serious problems shortly after the launch of the new mode and took the Playground offline again.
Matchmaking problems are to blame
Long waiting times cause frustration: According to a tweet from Epic, shortly after the launch of the Playground, there were problems with matchmaking. The waiting queue for the new mode was unusually long. Sometimes you waited several minutes for a match to start.
New mode offline until further notice: Since Epic apparently could not change anything promptly, they had to pull the emergency brake. According to the tweet, the new Playground mode was taken offline again until further notice. The developers are currently thoroughly checking and trying to fix the error as soon as possible.
As soon as they have found and fixed the errors, the Playground should resume operations.
Update 1: Epic has since announced via Twitter and Reddit that the Playground has not yet been repaired. However, several teams are currently working on it, and they intend to release another update today, June 28, 2018, regarding the status of the Playground. Perhaps it will be back online by then. We will keep you updated!
Update 2: Once again, Epic unfortunately has no good news for you. The Playground is still being revised and tested. They hope to bring it back into the game as soon as possible. Epic plans to release another statement later.
