In Fortnite, there is currently an Autumn Challenge running that aims to strengthen team spirit, but it is not going very well. Did Epic Games accidentally reveal that the excitement in Fortnite is starting to fade?
What is this challenge? In Fortnite, a mission was launched yesterday, November 28 at 4:00 PM, assigned to players by the Autumn Queen. All players from around the world are supposed to work together to unlock the Autumn Leaf Wrap.
By December 2 at 2:00 AM, they must have collected 2,500,000,000 points for the wrap to be unlocked for all participants.

Is Fortnite losing its appeal?
Why is the challenge a negative sign for Fortnite? Epic Games may have accidentally given itself away with the introduction of the Autumn Challenge.
The challenge started yesterday afternoon, and so far, it does not seem to be going well.
Players around the world have only collected a few points so far:
- So far, 414,235,977 points have been achieved – this number was reached after about one day
This pace would not be sufficient to succeed in the challenge. Otherwise, there would be no free wrap, and it would seem that fewer people are playing Fortnite than Epic hoped.
Why is progress so slow? It seems that fewer players are playing Fortnite than a year ago:
- According to Twitch viewer numbers for Fortnite from June 2019.
- Furthermore, the season in Fortnite is already relatively advanced – many have already completed the Battle Pass, and therefore have fewer reasons to play than usual
- The challenges are also designed in such a way that they only pertain to team play – solo games do not count
- And yesterday was Thanksgiving in the USA – this could also have reduced participation
There was already a challenge where all players from around the world had to work together. This, however, was successful at that time.
How to collect points for the challenge
How do you collect the points? There are 3 different ways to collect points for the Autumn Challenge:
- Heal teammates with a Bandage Bazooka (1 point per healed HP)
- Revive a teammate (2 points)
- Play a match with a friend (5 points per friend)

If now every player in the world playing Fortnite would complete these 3 things during the game, a lot of points should actually be collected.
Was Thanksgiving schuld am schwachen Start?
That’s why the prize will probably still be there: Epic has probably set the challenge up so that it should “work safely.”
It is quite possible that yesterday was just a “particularly weak day,” also due to Thanksgiving in the USA. Then it might be that the number of players increases again for the weekend.
It seems hard to believe that Epic would allow such a challenge to “fail.” That would not look good for the game.
Players step up – challenge still possible
Update 30.11, 8:20 PM: The goal is now almost reached. Participation has apparently increased significantly on Friday evening and Saturday:
- Currently, players have 2,498,610,518 points and are only a hair’s breadth from victory – they have just under 30 hours left.
This is how to get the reward: Anyone who plays a round now can get the wrap “Autumn Leaf”: To get the reward, it is enough to complete a game in Fortnite by December 2 at 2:00 AM German time.
The rewards are expected to be distributed by December 6.
