In Fortnite: Battle Royale, there was a deal last year for a special Fortnite bundle related to Nvidia cards. However, those who jumped at the opportunity just for the skin are likely quite disappointed now.
What was the Nvidia deal about? In December 2018, the graphics card manufacturer Nvidia offered a special deal. Anyone who purchased a graphics card from the GTX 10 series received 2,000 V-Bucks for Fortnite along with an exclusive skin, glider, back bling, and pickaxe.
This was the reason for the initiative: Nvidia had produced the chips for these cards in large quantities in anticipation of the Bitcoin boom. The cards were supposed to be particularly suitable for Bitcoin mining. However, the Bitcoin bubble burst quickly, and the anticipated demand for the graphics chips never materialized.
As a result, the cards were sold off cheaply for the Fortnite deal. Many skin collectors likely purchased the Nvidia card just for the skin, which was already considered outdated despite its good performance.
The cards cost between 280 and 500 Euros depending on the version. Sometimes, the skin was sold separately on eBay at high prices.
“Exclusive Skin” now in the shop for everyone
However, those who thought until now that having the Reflex skin was an exclusive outfit that hardly anyone else owned, have just been disappointed. Because Epic is shamelessly selling the Reflex skin in the shop today, March 4, 2019. And it costs the usual 1,200 Bucks that any outfit of this rarity costs.
1,200 Bucks is just 12 Euros, and anyone who purchased the Nvidia bundle or the overpriced code on eBay for 200 or more bucks to get the skin is understandably upset. After all, the bundle was marketed as exclusive at least by Epic.
This could only have referred to the bundle itself, but many buyers believed that it was about the skin as an exclusive offer.
“I am both disgusted and amused,” writes a buyer of the skin. “I didn’t buy the card just for the skin, but it did influence my purchasing decision.”
This is how the community laughs: Others are laughing at the people who seriously bought an expensive graphics card for a skin that is now available for the regular price in the shop.

- “The bundle was just early access for the skin, lol!”
- “I’m laughing my ass off at the idiots who bought it on eBay for hundreds of dollars!”
Also curious: On the Nvidia site, the deal was not even advertised as exclusive, which further frustrates many customers.
On the other hand, this is not the first time that Epic has later released a supposedly unique exclusive skin regularly in the shop. The “Halo Skin” had the same fate back then.
