In Fortnite new weapons have been added with Chapter 5 Season 2. However, one weapon is so powerful that it has already received a significant nerf. Reactions to this are very mixed.
What kind of weapon is this? With the “Wings of Icarus,” players can rise into the sky and dive onto their enemies. The weapon allows for simultaneous flying and bombing enemies in a dive to knock them down while dealing damage.
However, the combination was apparently far too strong, so Epic made significant adjustments to the weapon.
Wings of Icarus now require a significantly higher minimum altitude
What was changed? Within less than 24 hours of the season’s start, the wings were already nerfed. They were simply too strong – Epic must have realized this too.
As iFireMonkey reported in a X-post, this nerf affected the required minimum altitude of the item to activate the dive bomb, which has now increased. They raised it from 64 to 800. That’s a change of 1250%:
What are the reactions? The community is divided on whether they really like the nerf (via reddit.com). Some explain that the wings had such a large hitbox anyway that it was almost impossible not to hit the player in the air. Others retort that the wings could easily destroy entire regions in a matter of moments, with no counter possible.
