In Fortnite, today, October 4th, Patch 22.10 has been played on the servers of all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Patch 22.10 has been played on the servers. There were maintenance works during which Fortnite was offline and you could not play.
We updated this article for you at 12:50 PM with the contents from update 22.10.
Patch Notes for Patch 22.10 on October 4th
New Weapon: The new Cobra DMR is now available. The weapon has a long range and combines this with a high rate of fire. In Battle Royale, you can find it on the ground, in chests, and supply drops, as well as by fishing, looting sharks, and the fruit of a reality seedling.
The regular DMR is now in the vault.
New Chests: The new Holo Chests are new containers in Fortnite that you can unlock. You need a key to open a Holo Chest. As a hologram, the chests show what is inside them before you unlock them. This way, you can be sure to open such a chest when something useful is waiting inside.
There are also exotic Holo Chests that are stocked with exotic items. For this, you need two keys.
Grappler Glove: The grappler glove from Chapter 3 Season 3 is back in Fortnite. The Fortnite team explains how the item works.
If you miss and land on the ground, you have a short window of time to use the grappling hook again and continue swinging. If you slide out of swinging, this window is even larger, so just try out some combinations of swinging and sliding!
Don’t worry if time runs out – after a short cooldown, the grappler glove is ready to use again. When the grappler glove is ready again, swing back up into the air… Or maybe you need something that’s out of reach – the grappling hook can also be used to pull items towards you! Shoot the grappling hook until your grappler glove runs out of charges.
Where can you find the glove? The grappler glove is no longer in toolbox items. You can find it on the ground, in chests, supply drops, and as the fruit of a legendary or mythical reality seedling.
Superlevel Styles from Chapter 3 Season 4
Where are the styles? Under “Bonus Rewards” in the Battle Pass, you can find the Superlevel styles of this season starting October 6th at 15:00 CEST (German Summer Time). So far, there have been bonus styles for this season’s Battle Pass.
How to unlock the bonus styles? Those who make progress beyond level 140 in Chapter 3 Season 4 will unlock the styles Cosmic, Spectral, and Noble for Bytes, Lennox Rose, Paradigm (Reality-659), Bone Cat, and Spider-Gwen.

These were all the changes from Patch 22.10 on October 4th for Fortnite.
Continuing with the original article on the server downtime:
How long are the Fortnite servers offline on October 4th?
Downtime started early: Since around 11:00 PM on October 3rd, the Fortnite servers have been offline. This is significantly earlier than the usual downtime for updates, which typically starts only on patch day. Shortly after the sudden downtime, Epic Games announced on Twitter:
“Due to an error, we are starting downtime earlier. Update 22.10 will still be released on October 4th. We will let you know when the downtime is over.”
Originally, the servers were supposed to go offline at 10:00 AM German time (04:00 ET, 08:00 UTC). Matchmaking was supposed to end half an hour earlier.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline during such maintenance for several hours, and playing is then not possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by the updates over the past weeks.
Whether Epic Games will release the patch earlier due to the earlier downtime is questionable. We assume that you can get back on the servers by noon if the issue from October 3rd has been resolved by then.
There may also be issues with the new Patch 22.10 that could extend the waiting time. As soon as there is new information from the Fortnite team, we will update this article for you.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games has been publishing little to no patch notes for a while. However, community members often quickly find and share the changes. When important changes come, we will add them to the article for you.
What do leaks say about Update 22.10?
What can you expect from the update: In recent years, ShiinaBR has made a name for himself in the Fortnite community. Before larger updates, the Twitter account predicts what will change content-wise and has correctly leaked patch notes in advance.
For the new update, it is said in a tweet:
- Super Styles for the Battle Pass
- New weapon “Explosive Goo Gun”
- Boogie Bombs go into the vault
- Chrome continues to spread across the map
- New weekly challenges
- New leaks for the Halloween event “Fortnitemares”?
- New info about Luke Skywalker?
Now we must wait and see which of the contents will actually come into the game and how long the downtime will last today. Do you have a content you are particularly looking forward to in the update?
Have you seen this action from the developers? Players say that Fortnite is a dead game – Epic Games trolls them with a skin.
