In Fortnite today, on December 13th, the servers are going down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work will be used to upload the new update 23.10 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? Once again, the servers in Fortnite are being taken offline. Chapter 4 had its successful launch with a new season and its new map.
The Christmas season is getting closer, and so Epic has planned some cool things for you that could go live with patch 23.10. We will show you more details in the upcoming paragraph.
Fortnite: Patch Notes for Update 23.10
The Winter Festival has begun
This year, Epic Games is gifting you 14 presents for this Christmas season. Starting from December 13th at 3:15 PM, you will have the chance to open your first present. Please note that you have until January 3rd to open all gifts, so don’t miss out!
Winter weapons return
This year, you’ll be able to have fun with the snowball launcher and presents in battle royale as well as in the no-build mode. This icy cannon will take the place of the rocket launcher. Additionally, Sgt. Winter will drive across the new map with his vehicle to reward you with gifts.
Free Skin over Epic Games
The gifts do not stop there, as Epic Games is giving away another skin in its BR shooter via PC and its Epic Games Launcher. To redeem it, you just need to visit the item shop on the specified platform and redeem it between December 13th – January 3rd.
If you miss the time window, you will also miss out on the skin.
Free Emote for all
Players who are playing Fortnite with 5 different friends from December 13th to January 3rd will receive the emote “Curling Iron Emote” starting January 6th.
Additional styles are active
With update 23.10, players now have the chance to earn all additional styles of their “Battle Pass” skins.
Balance changes
- Reduced time to capture a POI.
- Improved accuracy and recoil of the Tactical Pistol.
- The fire rate and accuracy of the auto Maven shotgun have been improved.
- The equipment time of the Thunder shotgun has been reduced.
- Player damage and accuracy of hip fire of the Ex-Caliber Rifle have been reduced and environmental damage significantly reduced.
- The cooldown time of the Shockwave Hammer’s jump has been increased.
- Light ammo now drops in stacks of 20 instead of 18.
- Additionally, the amount of materials that can be harvested from many large stone objects across the island has been increased in the v23.10 patch.
Competitive changes
- Snowball launcher, Christmas gifts! and the patrolling Sgt. Winter are not included in competitive playlists.
Major bug fixes for Battle Royale
- A problem that caused the reactivation of Reality Augments to only be available during a game has been fixed for PC players.
- The changed voice chat settings in the sidebar are now saved correctly.
- A problem that caused shield damage numbers to display in white has been fixed.
- The Shockwave Hammer no longer deals damage to players through structures/buildings.
- Mobile players can now swipe through the Battle Pass and are no longer limited to pressing only the arrow keys.
Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long will it be offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: According to Epic Games, the servers are expected to go down at 10:00 AM German time to install update 23.10. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds from 9:30 AM onwards.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance work, and playing will not be possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This is shown by the updates from recent weeks.

What’s new for battle royale mode? So far, we don’t know anything concrete, but leakers have often proven to be reliable sources with their predictions. According to Shiina, you could expect the following:
