In Fortnite today, on July 6th, the servers are down on all platforms (PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). The maintenance work is used to upload the new update 21.20 to the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.
What is happening today in Fortnite? This time you can expect a patch. The servers will be taken offline for maintenance and the new patch 21.20.
The patch brings new skins, wild weapons, and possibly changes to the map. To make sure you don’t miss anything, we at MeinMMO will update this article regularly throughout the day.

Fortnite: Server Down – When and how long is it offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to go down around 10:00 AM our time to install update 21.20. The matchmaking will already be disabled 30 minutes prior, so you won’t be able to search for new rounds starting from 9:30 AM.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance and playing is not possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by the updates of the past weeks.
During such maintenance, there can also always be technical issues, bugs, and delays. If such complications arise, we will report them to you here immediately.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games has not been publishing patch notes for a while now. However, community members usually find the changes quickly. If there are still important changes, we will also update this article for you.

What new content does update 21.20 bring?
What’s new for the Battle Royale mode? The update is out, along with the official patch notes for patch 21.20. Here’s what you can expect:
Indiana Jones and Shuffled Shrines
After downloading, you have the opportunity to unlock Indiana Jones. All listed tasks can be found in the quest tab of Fortnite. Additionally, a new POI has appeared. Shuffled Shrines is located west of The Joneses. So get ready to discover something new.
New Weapon: Chargable Submachine Gun
The new submachine gun can be charged while firing to rain a volley of bullets down on your opponents. You can find the new weapon on the ground, in saplings, or in chests.
With the introduction of the new weapon, the Combat SMG has been vaulted.
The Port-a-Fort is back!
The Port-a-Fort has been unvaulted and lets you build a tower in seconds. This nice device can be found anywhere on the map and is even available in the “No-Build” mode.
Chainsaw Launcher is still available
The Chainsaw Launcher week is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a launcher anymore. The probability of finding one on the ground or in chests has been minimized. However, you can still find them in known locations like Logjam.
Competitive Notes
- The Chargable Submachine Gun is not available in competitive game modes.
- The Combat SMG has been vaulted for competitive modes.
- The Port-a-Fort is not available in competitive game modes.
- If you missed it: Last week we removed characters and wildlife from competitive modes to improve server performance.
Bug Fixes
- A bug was fixed where the icon of reality saplings sometimes appeared in the wrong location on the map for players.
