In Fortnite heute, on April 19th, the servers are down on all platforms (PC/Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, Android). Maintenance is being used to load the new Update 20.20 onto the servers. Preliminary patch notes for the update can be found here.

Important times for server downs today in Fortnite – When and how long is it offline?
This is the downtime in the morning: The servers are expected to go down at 10:00 AM our time to install Update 20.20. The matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes beforehand, so you will not be able to search for new matches from 09:30 AM.
When can you play again? The servers are usually offline for several hours during such maintenance and playing is then not possible. The downtime is expected to last between 30 minutes and 2 hours. This has been shown by the updates from the past weeks.
During such maintenance, there can also always be technical problems, bugs, and delays. If any complications arise, we will report it to you immediately here.
When will the patch notes be released? Epic Games has long been publishing little to no patch notes anymore. However, community members usually quickly search for and find the changes. If there are still important changes, we will also add them to this article for you.
What new content does Update 20.20 bring?
What’s new for the Battle Royale mode? There are still no concrete statements from Epic Games regarding the content of Patch 20.20. However, leaks and data miners have often proven to be a reliable source in the past. The changes are officially:
New Weapon – Ranger Shotgun
Epic has provided you with a new weapon, called “Ranger Shotgun”. This new gun can perform very well at long distances. However, it only has one round in the magazine.
You can find the weapon on the ground, in chests, with various vendors, in supply drops, or with sharks.
New Donation Event – Boogie Bomb or Rift-To-Go?
Soon, you will have the opportunity to use two familiar items against your opponents in the fight against IO. From Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 02:00 AM CEST until Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 02:00 AM CEST, both gadgets will be available in the battle.
After that, you can decide which item should come from the vault. With bars, you will have the chance to select which of the two is your favorite. The winner of the vote will enter the battlefield.
“Covert Operation” Quests
Epic is hosting a covert questline from April 22 to May 02. This will reward you not only with XP but also a secret pickaxe upon completion of all tasks. So don’t miss the challenges.
Competitive Notes
- There will be no battle in the competitive game modes at Coney Crossroads, but Huntmaster Saber has still changed his position.
- The Ranger Shotgun is not available in competitive game modes, but its potential use is still being examined.
- The Boogie Bomb and Rift-To-Go will not be available in competitive modes during the testing period.
Important Bug Fixes
- A bug was fixed where the controller vibrated continuously after getting out of a motorboat while boosting on land.
- A bug was fixed that prevented players from sliding when “Sprint Toggle” was set to “Off”.
